wouldn't really call vegeta an "anti-hero" at this point in the story though. He's still a villain and a monster, the only reason he's not murdering people is because he had goku to compete with, and the androids kicked his ass.

Vegeta might have pushed aside any notions of fatherhood during this time, but you can tell that when he first realizes who Trunks is, he is probably realizing the gravity of being the father of a Super Saiyan and potentially bringing in not just a new generation but a new age for the Saiya people.

@@Arrowdynamic92 being confronted with an adult son from a future timeline has got to be all kinds of messing with Vegeta's head. Firstly proof to Vegeta that he got entangled with Bulma across multiple timelines probably a little disconcerting since he seems to be in denial about his feelings for her at this point. Then there is the fact that Future Trunks grew up in a timeline that is almost as horrendous as Vegeta's own upbringing, so there's that for Vegeta to deal with. Plus Future Trunks was the original messenger that defeats Frieza, brings news of the androids and Vegeta's future self's death and failure and turns Super Saiyan in front of him when Vegeta was still struggling to get there. There's baggage there whether Future Trunks knows it or not! Not to mention Vegeta is emotionally incompetent at this time in the character arc. He doesn't express feelings well or develop feelings of affection immediately. He grew up under Frieza surrounded by other ruthless mercernaries, it's a wonder he ever gets to be the person he does . . . eventually. BUT it's what makes him an interesting and great character.
