Dragon Warrior was my first RPG, i couldn't remember the name of it, i was like 4, and i probably didn't even get to level 2 or 3 lol, but MAN did i love the game. It didn't take much to entertain a 4 year old as you can imagine. I just had fun naming everyone and roaming around. For years i had no idea it was a Dragon Quest game. 🤯

Unique items in my collection, I have a book covering the DQ history (with great sprite pictures and art since I can't read it), Dragon Warrior Monsters game boy games, 1&2, and also a large cloth poster GameStop gave me for Dragon Quest Heroes! Love the series so much!

Back when we were playing D&D regularly, I used that picture of Torneko from the cover to give a friend a hard time. We were both pretty new and just learning the rules, so he ended up buying a Bag of Holding when he was at WAY too low of a level. Our GM didn’t notice for a few play sessions, by which point my friend had accumulated a ton of crap that he wouldn’t have been able to carry without the bag. That may have actually been how the GM caught it. We all had this image in our heads of my friend carrying a huge sack bursting at the seams, so I took that picture of Torneko, pasted my friend’s face over it, and printed it out to show everybody at our next session. XD

I just recently got into Dragon Quest myself. So far I have 8 of the games and counting. I have only been at it a month. I must have lived under a rock my whole life or something. Considering how big of a Dragon Ball fan I am, its crazy I hadn't discovered it sooner. @happyconsolegamer

This is an impressive collection, Johnny. I like that both you and your wife could connect over this also. This got me wondering if Final Fantasy got a similar treatment (which i am quite unsure of). I don't fully get the appeal of the slimes being made into everything like this, maybe people think they're cute? I guess they are.

Awesome collection man the special edition of dragon quest 11 killed me , the shipping and import taxes . But man I don't regret it one bit. That game is a masterpiece, I honestly think it surpasses dragon quest 8 which was great has well

What an incredible collection. These longer videos when you’re showing off a bunch of cool stuff are my favourites. Dragon Quest really is a magical series. And I’m really jealous of that Horii signature. It’s so special because he’s been there from the beginning and is still going strong. And not just designing the games, but writing all of them too. Long running series often come from various sources and while I’m sure there have been many people to come in and out of the Dragon Quest team, I think it’s kinda cool that Horii, Sugiyama andToriyama have been there from the very beginning and have worked on every single DQ.

Watching this while my husband plays Dragon Quest 11. I'm waiting for him to beat the game so I can play next. lol

Lol.. dude if anything you deserve my respect for pursuing your passion on video games etc. I believe you used the word "inner nerd" once and indeed I see that. I only wish I had more space to collect stuff too, one day maybe I will have a room just to keep ally crap/collections. Compared to you I have nothing but just wanna thank you for your videos, reviews, honest opinions, passions etc. You and others on KZfaq always make my day! I do want to ask you something and maybe you can enlighten me. So I recently started playing breath of fire (the very first one on the SNES developed by Capcom) and I noticed there is a slime (blue slime) too except it doesn't have eyes. Is there any connection with the Dragon quest series or is it just a different slime in itself? If you could make a video talking about this (not sure if it's worth the time or not) that would be great. At some point I thought it was the same game. Anyways I think I've typed enough! I’ve already seen this video twice now and am still in awe. That wooden box is still my most favourite thing in your collection. King Slime ice sculpture!? The anime actually came out in North America as well under the title Dragon Warrior. I remember getting up really early saturday morning just to watch it. I think it was a 6:00 AM time slot. I don't even think we got one season worth of episodes before they cancelled it.

Dragon Quest Anime was aired in Brazilian TV about +or- 96'. Here in Brazil is call Fly.

John, quick suggestion. You say you don’t like to do plain unboxings. Why not make the format so that the unboxing is always accompanied by your own memories/reflections about the series’ past? That’d be an easy way of putting out more content while keeping with the general theme of your channel

A couple months ago I found an unopened PS2 Slime controller at a Half Price Books for $25. I couldn't believe i found that!

Jelly of the game collection alone hehe. I had DQ:Swords when it came out, but a lot of my stuff was stolen unfortunately. I still have at least half of that game collection, nothing Japanese though. Awesome stuff HCG! Dont forget Dragon Quest Heroes 2! Cant wait for DQH 3! I guess they are working on DQXII already? Not sure if a misunderstanding from the interview or if truth. We shall see!
