Very informative vid with a memorable ending. There are times when I have seen people swear by adding Utilitarian as the primary inclination but when challenged on it they say the pawns need 3-star beastiary knowledge for it to work properly. My experience though says picking as you referenced here works best. Utilitarian is for teamwork but without a base plan of how/who to attack pawns won't know what role to play on a team. Nice job on providing a detailed explanation of what inclinations and augments to pair with popular vocations. The postlude of this vid ended with relaxing music and a brilliant take down of an Elder Ogre by your pawns. She didn't know who to go after as she was hit by a wave of attacks. What's most impressive though is had your pawns been outfitted with stronger weapons or gear that automatically healed them she wouldn't have last long enough for your viewers to enjoy how well synchronized a team of striders can be. Another very well done video.
@Nihil0.06 жыл бұрын
Thank you Derek. I appreciate you noticing my attempts. I know you are as familiar with the interiors of the game too, and have noticed these things. Utilitarian is great. I love it, but not as primary (useless) and by role, each inclinations is designed for certain vocations. The 3 Striders did work well. I have come to a liking of a full vocation party play. After I di my Warriors tour, I had so much fun with them, that I had to go through as the other setups, and each time was amazing as unit.

Ive been watching your videos a ton of your videos the past few weeks (everytime I log on youtube I have one of your videos in my recommended and its amazing) and just want to say thank you, I already loved dogma but what Ive learned from these videos has just enhanced it, like finely aged cheese. This video in particular helped me so much I had to comment. The having less skills on a pawn in particular made the biggest change for me. Before I just had random damage skills, element boon, and anodyne. I tend to spend most of my time on 60-80% hp including white bar (reckless, greedy play) so even a rat biting me triggered primary medicant which hardly let my pawn get to utal, along with me not aggroing mobs charging my pawn which made him not get off his heal or buff which he would just try recasting once he got up. So the 3 damage skills and grapnel I had on him went largely unused. After this pawn guide though I dropped anodyne and boon (youve shown me the way of enchanted weapons and luckily daggers get all 5 elements & smarter play is a fine subsitute for anodyne). Pawn just has High Grapnel (I love this skill so much), Comestion, and High Levin. Mitigator 1 Utal 2 Chall 3 The difference is crazy went from bumbling wizard tripping over his staff trying to heal his master, to a wise spell caster that prevents said healing from being needed in the first place. Almost like hes a mitigator or something. I leave my long comment and thanks on that dry note.

that I will! I just recently found your channel from watching your class schematics (very well detailed!) and I've been browsing your vids since! Edit: Also for the red vocations how often does Warcry and Shield Drum work? I know its a move thats suppose to draw aggro, but it seems that the only to actually get the moster's attention is by hitting them. are they useless skills? And does MK count as a red vocation so player can tank and draw aggro right?
@Nihil0.05 жыл бұрын
Honestly, Shield drum and Warcry are very useless. On pawns they are terrible, for an Arisen..... eh, it's just as easy to quickly attack when you know and expect the aggro to change. Enemies keep the aggro on red if they are not attacked, and then whoever attacks them, the aggro switches to that attacker. MK counts as #3 aggro. Warrior #1, Fighter #2, MK #3 and Assassin #4.

Great video about inclinations.I also like to watch pawns in battles and study their inclinations alot.When I tried on my fighter utilitarian,guardian I was really surprised how great it works ( he got full bestiary I dont know if this was a big plus).He wasnt glued to me but he was attacking every enemie in the room.Not only strong or weak ones he was attacking everyone I wanted him to attack.When I am trying to try new inclinations for my pawns I always go in the room with more types of enemies because this is where you can see how they act. I know that many people prefer scather as first inclination on a fighter pawn but everytime I tried it on my pawn I changed it back.What I dont like about scather as primary is that they see only one type of enemie ( for example that room with 2 chained gorecyclops,2 eliminators and 3 garms will spawn there).That room is a big problem for scathers pawns and worst situation when you are fighting eliminators and garms will spawn there a scather pawn will not fight garms at all they wil not fight eliminators they wil see only one enemie chained gorecyclop.They just get kinda "blind" to other type of enemies.So I have set my pawn utilitarian,scather and this was really big change.He was fighting other enemies too. What I wanted to say is (maybe I am wrong I dont know,all this thing with inclinations is so difficult sometimes) from what I saw on my fighter pawn when he is primary utilitarian he works with Arisen more than if he would be set as a scather primary. Sorry for so long commentary :)

Thanks for the long comment April. I love the long in depth comments. And yes, the Inclinations and Pawns are very intricate, and difficult. It mostly requires an array of testing and observations for you to figure out what works best for your setup, because even as we switch vocations, we need a new setup with our pawns. I saw your videos with Yupiel and Gael, and someone else. You and I do the same thing, with observant how they act as a unit, and then make adjustments. It's pretty fun. And I would encourage you to upload more, I saw the last one prior was almost a year ago. I saw you have 3k hours in the game, so I am sure you can provide some good videos. I will continue to watch and like. Ultimately there is no right or wrong way to setup a Pawn. After awhile of watching you, they will always adjust and evolve into a mesh of what the game was designed to do, so really patience is the only requirement to get a pawn that acts well. Thanks again April, I appreciate it

Interesting to see that the enemy often seems to know exactly who used which skill/spell , even if it's a spell that has a slight delay between deployment and impact (like Bolide or Fracture Dart) - they'll turn to the caster, even if they weren't the aggro before. Compare that to other games where when you shoot an arrow at an enemy , they'll go investigate the _spot_ the arrow landed on as if it dropped from the sky.^^ <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="2060">34:20</a> - "they attack men with especial zeal"... well, obviously not if the man doesn't attack in the first place. You'd think that with Elder Ogres, male characters would get a higher 'aggro focus' per default, even if they didn't participate in battle. If all four of you were to attack at the same time with the same skill, would the Ogre *then* turn to the man? Or what is this supposed male/female differentiation even good for? Only for the attack where they kidnap and eat you?^^

Hey Tar Vyn, good to read from you. Nice catch with the butt plunderers of the pawns, that was funny.. And yeah, the aggro sensors of these enemies are quite responsive and perceptive, kinda silly. I wish the next game would make it so that the knowledge stuff is the ones that teaches your pawns fighting tactics/tendencies by seeing it being done by others first, but they have static roles/gambits you can set at the chair that doesn't change OT. After that, they should make item gathering as a manual command and not an inclination, because it's like cancer you always have to deal with after some time. The tactics they'll use will heavily depend on the gambits/roles you set for them. Like take aggro+do melee+target large 1st+fight close to me as gambits that won't change OT, and then the tactics like grappling enemies, knocking down, climbing become applied for specific enemies due to those being set. I like how they were able to make a growing AI in the game, but if experience tells me anything, it wasn't that good to base everything it learns on what the main character does, and then have no option to keep certain stuff "permanently set". Eventually, all average players will have pawns riddled with Acquisitor and just be a copy of the player making it a bother to micromanage for most folks who don't know this stuff.

There codes for certain skills when a debilitation is active, like if you freeze an Eliminator your Sorcerer pawn and Strider will not attack and break that frozen, if you have the skill Arc of or if your Warrior pawn has Arc of. The other pawns know that Arc of is the powerhouse so they just allow it to charge and not break the frozen.

Switched pawn from sorcerer to mage and primary inclination became glitched fixed on scather ,I gues I have no option than to buy potion that clears all inclinations and retrain the pawns dialog ,scather inclination doesnt cause mage to climb i think specific skills or pawn knowledge trigger that behavior !!. A awesome gear item to add to pawn is magnanimous cloak , It cause health max to heal on all party causing even arisen health max to regenerate when standing next to rift stones.

I preferably avoid letting my sorcerer pawn use maelstrom as it obviously blocks out visibility when I'm melee. Very informative though, so thx. Now I need to do another play through lol
@Nihil0.06 жыл бұрын
Yeah, maelstrom does consume the entire visual surroundings. I also don't like Anodyne, as it's glow can really be a hinderance. Good to hear about another playthough. Always my intent with any video. To encourage more Dogma

They didn't fix the little hole in the map either, I can't remember exactly where. But it's on the main road between our character's hometown and gran soren. You'll notice it when your character does that animation if you try walking off a cliff, though on that spot. And we can fall through the map into an endless fall. I've done it a few times, once or twice on PS4, and the other 2 or 3x on my 360. It usually corrupts my save data

Wonderful to see people still playing this game! Thanks for a great, fascinating video. It really helps put the AI mechanisms of inclinations together for various pawn vocations/skills/augments. I've been hit or miss for years, without really knowing why. Hits = Accidents! I think things are finally about to change. _Query:_ people talk about "training" a pawn's inclinations. It seems a long, somewhat confusing process to me (for example, I hate using the D-pad or not picking up anything dropped in battle even after battle just to shape a pawn's inclinations). You, however, spend a good part your video standing back, and you only get more involved when you need to direct the aggro or when the party is smaller. When you stay apart from the pawns, letting them do the primary work, do you "train" your pawn in a way that alters arrangements of her inclinations over time? Or do you hang back here for demo purposes only? Do you use the elixirs at all with your pawn if her inclinations go awry or simply engage/train when your pawn needs reminding of her role in the party? (The bench seems to go only so far in preserving second and tertiary inclinations, and then, only if a fourth inclination doesn't show up in the mix, but doesn't appear to do anything for the primary one.) It actually seems to me, elixirs notwithstanding, I need to learn to step back from the fight a bit more frequently ... promote the ensemble effort rather than be the star. Yes?

Did just read the JustKazuma writings you linked to. _Very_ helpful ... these do address many of my questions, asked and unasked. Do they echo how you grow your pawns?

@Nihil0.05 жыл бұрын
The chair will only change the one Inclination. To change the other or all, you will need to do the Elixirs from Johnathon kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7WlqdReu9LMeY0.html

@j.vinton40393 жыл бұрын
Now if only our sorcerer pawns would use high ground. Nearly half the fights we encounter as melee arisen can be ended in moments with a sorcerer simply climbing to a higher point and raining death. Nah, they want to wade into the fray. That’s why I’ve never created a sorcerer pawn. Rather control and dictate that flow myself than rely on them.

I want to know if there are inclinations or augments that encourages specific spells to be cast regardless of knowledge. I remember seeing somewhere that Fulmination is a Utilitarian spell or affected by the Help call out. Still don't know if this is true.
@Nihil0.02 жыл бұрын
Utilitarian helps for spellsync, but it's not needed. Utilitarian does improve when they use certain elemental spells on certain enemies. The augments that improve stagger resistance while casting helps and stamina increase helps.
@Mogster1015 жыл бұрын
Hey I just started playing DDDA and I'm a tad confused about your support mage pawn's augments. She has augments from Strider, Ranger in addition to Mage and Sorcerer. What is her leveling progression? My plan is to grab Beatitude and Perpetuation from Mage and then rank up Sorcerer to 9 for Articulacy plus Conversation.
@Nihil0.05 жыл бұрын
I typically get augments from all vocations, because they can be useful for all vocations. Mage and Sorcerer are easier to not need other augments, but stability from Ranger and Grit from Strider are great for all. It just goes for preference really. What you want the pawn to be and do can be fine tuned with augments

I’ve gotten good at using the inclination potions Johnathan sells. Usually 7/7/7. Problem is that Aquisitor keeps replacing the 3rd position. Can I top off with a potion to replace it? Or will I always need the whole 7/7/7 regimen, so the potion doesn’t replace primary inclination?
@Nihil0.03 жыл бұрын
You can top off once. Next time should be 7/7/7 again. How it works is a range between 100 and 1000. The highest number is primary. The numbers increase on their own, so Aquisitor will eventually reack 1000
@christophercollins36323 жыл бұрын
@@Nihil0.0 Thanks for your reply. I didn’t know about the 100-1000 inclination range. I love deep games like this with obscure mechanics, that need a community to tease out everything.

When I go with a Mage Support, I skip the Focused Bolt, but I don't think it interferes too much. If you have a Rusted Staff for torpor on your Support mage, the focused bolt will induce torpor pretty well.
