My new head canon is now that future trunks told the z fighters in the main timeline that the dragon balls were used before they could wish their friends back to life. Not necessarily that the pilaf gang was there, but just that the dragon balls were used before they could use them. Since then, bulma always makes it a point to have the dragon balls in her possession at all times.

This maybe a bit of a stretch but am shocked Bulma never sent Trunks or Gohan to New Namek given it maintained the cannon of it being wished back which I strongly assumed happen since Krillin, Tien etc are alive but were destroyed by the Andriods. I guess Toriyama wanted to give Trunks all the shine in this arc which was deserved. It would be an interesting what if story if she sent them both to Namek to restore all the Z fighters in that time and what would outcome have been like if Goku was alive.

I like to think Mai had met Trunks before the Black incident, helping others and somewhat compensating for the Dragon Balls being missed used. Maybe Mai had already told Trunks later on and he accepted that her, just like him, is trying to rebuild the future for the better.

It's not their fault, even if Pilaf didn't gather the dragonballs, Bulma and Gohan wouldn't have had time to search for them before Picccolo's death...

I have the feeling she already told him during their conversations if he ever told her the story. He would be upset, true, but he would also recognize that Pilaf was the one who made the wish, and without consulting Mai or Shu. Further taking into account their situation, he wouldn't have time to dwindle on this, but her being candid with him would allow him to forgive the past mistakes, and see her for who she is now, and what she has done to try and atone by trying to save humanity with him. That's my thoughts.

But he set off a chain of events that turned out a lot more dangerous than the original androids, but we had goku to tell us how to train for a year in a day and make gohan cracked enough to no diff cell the second he starts trying

And Gohan clearly didn’t have time to make any wish, anyway, since Piccolo clearly died before they got to where the dragon balls were gathered. And, obviously, they didn’t know what was actually going on at that point since the androids had literally just shown up, and it did seem like Mai and Shu probably thought that maybe Pilaf would make a wish that would take care of the “monsters” as well.

So like I always wondered, why didn't Goku use his day pass to fight the Androids? Like Baba was willing to give it to him just to see his family for a day in the main timeline. Actually now that I think about it he could've used his day pass to go to new namek, wish Piccolo back which in turn would bring back the earth dragon balls which they then could've used to bring everyone back.

It is a parallel timeline that still exists. They did a character design flaw after Trunks came back from the past he was older and taller. DBS turned him back into a kid similar to the first time he arrived.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but how did Pilaf gang even collect the dragon balls without a dragon radar, isn't that highly unlikely? After Vegeta died, why wouldn't Piccolo try to escape while the others tried to hold the Androids off, he knows the dragon balls are done if he dies, or Kami would of told him to escape asap. Lastly, Bulma didn't at any point get a ship together to pull off another Namek trip? Bulma was 100% smart enough to track down & find New Namek

I am more surprised that Trunks timeline Goku did not ask for the one day on Earth like he did in the Buu saga. He would have have helped Gohan and the others to get to New Namek and use the Puranga Dragon Balls.

So for those in the comments going on about wishing Goku back, it was not possible. Goku died fighting Raditz and was revived before, the esrth dragon balls had a one revive per person rule by Kami so Goku would focus on getting stronger to protect what he charished most. Bulma never knew where new Namek was (a fan manga had her find it) and though it could be argued how the Guru clause worked for Namek, i dont think the same would work for this situation. That being said, I'd honestly love to see a whatif for goku surviving the heart virus and showing the androids up.

You can't really blame Pilaf and his gang for this though, he was more along the lines of a Saturday cartoon villain, whenever he faced off against Goku and the gang, he could have won if he used sinister means, such as taking hostages or killing them while they were weak, such as when they caught Goku as he was hungry, but they just locked him up and his friends and then Goku saw the moon turned into an oozaru and wrecked their base, and then later Pilaf and his crew were taken advantage off of stronger and more sinister villains such as King Piccolo, so its why when he finally gets his hands on the dragon balls and is allowed for a wish, he just doesn't care about the circumstances or anything since he had just finally won playing fairly, but unfortunately that selfish wish cost the Earth everything, and if you ask me the people who had the most to blame were Bulma and the Z-Fighters, because the first thing is that they didn't safe guard the dragon balls, after basically knowing that every time the Earth has been in danger is because someone came to Earth while searching for the balls, or for example it was someone on Earth itself like Red the commander for the Red Ribbon army, that wanted to use the balls for themselves, so like Goku did in GT they all should have become guardians of the balls, or if Kami and Mr. Popo were actually smart, they would have locked the balls up somewhere like the room of spirit and time, where time flows differently and not everyone is aware of the location, and heck who knows if due to the fact that its in another dimension, if things like radars and stuff will no longer work, since the original Dragon Ball there were times when not even Bulma's radar would detect some of the balls, because they were hidden somewhere by people that had collected a ball or two, and actually now that I think about it more, if it takes a whole year for the balls to recharge, they are actually very dumb for not picking up the balls as they fly up in the sky, because even if they turned to stone, they could just store them in the room of spirit and time and then only have to wait like a day or two on Earth before they can use them again, since it would have been a year or more while inside the chamber, because if I remember correctly, the reason why Bulma can't collect the balls while they are recharging is because they don't emit sufficient energy to be detectable by a radar, so at least by that point it makes sense, but considering that most of the Z-Fighters can move at ridiculous speeds and fly, it makes no sense why they wouldn't just intercept the balls when they fly off.

Pilaf made the wish, Mai was just there. Also if you get turned into a baby, there's no guarantee you'd keep all your memories and remain cognitive. You just might have to start all over again with a blank slate

His plan was probably to get Bulma to gather all the Dragon Balls and wish for a trip to New Namek to summon Porunga for the 3 additional wishes. First wish, revive everyone the Androids killed. Second wish, revive Goku. Third wish...???
