I love old Drag Racing,every weekend we were off to Lions,Bakersfield,Orange County ,Irwindale and the first one my Dad took me to San Fernando so My Uncle and him coud race ,their 57 Chevy ,my Dad drove and they had a great time until I told Mom that Dad almost won last time! That was the end of my Dad's racing career ! But, we still went to every track within a few hours driving,and got to meet everyone and take pictures.My Dad shot some great footage in Super 8 mm film and got a few great shots,the biggest is the first rocket car to go down Lions raceway! I know and use to work with Adam Sorokin and he got the footage into" LIONS The Greatest Drag Strip",and I had them put his name in the credits on all the videos in the series because they used his footage in every one! WOW,sorry for the short book here,but the point is ,that was the scariest but greatest experience ever,even playing in front of thousands of people,nothing is more exhilarating then just sitting in a Nitro burning Dragster and then just watching them,IN PERSON,and that is how you become a Nitroholic!

Nice! I don't think anyone is doing that yet or at least you're the first I've seen... Can you live stream with those? Do they have internet compatibility?

I know Shawn Langdon and Jack Beckman tested out another brand about a year and a half ago. Their glasses had a hard time staying focused, and the audio was fair. That was the only time I have seen them used. There are comfort and placement issues with any of these types glasses. The limitations are unique to each driver's helmet situation. Do they wear prescription glasses? Do they wear a head sock? Do they have a formed nose section within the helmet? All of these frames are bulky, and the camera is in a fixed position. Ron Hope had zero issues using these. He's had eye corrective surgery, does not wear a head sock, and the helmet does not have the formed nose section. I've had a few other drivers in the fuel classes wear them, along with a number of AA/Gasser drivers. No live stream or internet compatibility. Battery life between charges is approximately 30-45 minutes of run time. We've cut it close on battery time if a driver gets stuck in the lanes during an oil down or what not.

Wow thank you for the info. Looks like you guys have really tested these out. Hopefully in the near future we can see improvements without restricting the driver with this technology. It doesn't get any better than this. Really shows the realism for any fan. It's almost like you're actually going for a ride in this beast. Online or console gamers would love this.... Maybe serious gamers could help fund an ideal development. Google Glasses at this stage would be too bulky also

West coast nostalgia fuel racing (funny cars, fuel altereds, top fuel) began at the March Meet. Midwest and East Coast events are scattered throughout the summer. Unfortunately, 2018 has brought more rain than racing around here.

Not to mention the work done before the actual race. Then the cubic money it takes to run the organization. You folks are really impressive.

Thank you, John! The Rat Trap went off the end during the final pair of the second session. Might have been distracted by Hilsabeck's oil-down in the other lane, plus Ron pedaled his own run and it may not have appeared like a big deal. He was still humping at 214 MPH. Ron had one chute come out but never fully blossom, and the second one bounced out before the sand trap. He kept a pretty cool head during all of that. The line of the weekend, "It's just a fuel altered. They do that." LOL Looks like we will make another trip to your home track in September. Had been 34 years since I had been there, and, wow, has that place transformed into a great facility. I will check out your footage as well! Cheers!
