A Tesla can beat an ICE car off the line, but that ICE car will be maintaining that speed got far longer. They're nice toys but that's all they really are.

I think electric is the next step into the future but it is realistically not the future.

You get a very tiresome and sick feeling after 2-3 pulls. I had a headache from all those accelerations and it was only a Tesla 3 performance. Your head hitting the not so soft headrest could have been the issue. But after a few pulls, it really isn't pleasant anymore.

@@elstingergt3374 no, EV don’t need to be broken in. The drive units don’t really wear down. And no oil. I’ve owned 5 Tesla’s including plaid. As they age they are just as fast as when they were new unlike traditional ice that lose HP over time

The Roadster will be amazing. However, ICE cars will still reign supreme for top speeds, but no longer acceleration. Also cars like the Porsche GT2 will still likely lap Nuringbring faster than tbe Roadster. But in all other measures involving acceleration, ICE cars are in trouble ! At least if you exclude top fuel, and other purpose built dragstrip only machines like Funny Cars, etc. The dyno power curve shows why ICE cars are faster on top end speeds, especially for Bonneville.

@@MrJeffhart24 No, not overall. It set the 4 door record at 7 min 13 sec. Very impressive. But not the "overall" production car record. The Porsche GT 2 has that at 6 min 43 sec. The Roadster would need active aero and specific ground effects to beat that, Otherwise it won't be able to. Another issue the Roadster would face in high speed handling is its large mass compared to the GT2, which would could be offset with larger spoilers, air dams and ground effects, but I dont think the Roadster comes with all that, unless Tesla decides to offer it as an add on...It would drop top speeds but improve handling.

There are deserted roads in Nevada, New Mexico and a few other states, where two hundred and even three hundred mph and over can be done. The Bonneville Salt Flats are specifically for top speeds. In fact the ICE record is just over 470 mph with a blown streamliner. The Electric stream liner record stands at 341. 8 mph with over 3000 hp. A gas engine with 3000 hp would push the same streamliner to around 400 mph. Electric motors are great off the line and in midrange. Not on top. A Buggatti Chiron is FASTER than a Tesla Roadster, but the Roadster is still "quicker".

I’ve watched a lot of people launching it obsessively without drag mode and 2.4-2.6 seem to be the average without drag strip mode. Even saw a video where someone launched in the rain with three adults in the car and still landed 2.6 which is wild Also someone did a 1/4 run with four adults In the car and ran a 9.6.

You do realize the electric motors in the Plaid aren't maxed out and Musk said they could extract more rpms from the motors right. The Roadster will be lighter, more aerodynamic and with the Space X package be much quicker than .5 sec from the Plaid. We are not used to this performance from a STOCK electric vehicle so open your mind. This is just the beginning.

Launch means activating launch mode which takes 10 minutes of preparation.

As in using launch mode, cheetah stance, left foot brake, etc.

To say doesn't compete is not true. The Chiron on the street was .2 to .3 seconds within the Plaid's times. That's plenty competitive.

I have the myp. Great car. Beauty is subjective but so far I have gotten my unicorn car. Double the mpg equivalent of a Prius Fast or almost as fast a a German performs car And low maintenance cost( only tires) I had to give up some performance based the 3 for more cargo/passenger space(family man😂)

All depends on where you been looking. Situation Plaid had awesome races all the them on the street to give you a real world perspective against 900whp Chargers, bikes, 1500hp Huracan and others. If that's lack luster you need to start your own channel and show him how it's done. Looks like his channel is down again.

There have been people posting dragy videos of 2.18s 0-60 w/o rollout, on the street. If anything, that highlights how consistent these cars are.

my best is 2.04 on the street so far...
