A Rare Mid Winter Flood Early Jan, After 7:30 is old stuff. Floods are uncommon in winter since the plowes push the junk that clogs them off of the road

@Briarrose29 you are right. A curb inlet without a grate requires little to zero maintenance, everything floats away. And these roads don't even need the curbs, there could be a ditch or the water could just freely go into the lower forest.

So weird how your area gets so many floods like this. Where I live this is never happening. I think it's the way the streets are. You have like city style streets in places that aren't in city area. This road doesn't look like one that needs a sidewalk and curbs. My area roads like this have no curbs and water just flows off into the ditch or sides of the roads... In the city or suburbs we have these but there are not enough trees to clog the drain with leaves. I don't know much about infrastructure but this seems like crappy design.
@JoshuaMuse4 жыл бұрын
Seems like the drains should be in the curb. Not sure what that type is called. Curb drain? The ones where clowns like to hide LOL. I guess the brightside is it gives Post 10 something to do and something for me to watch. Which, is oddly satisfying.
@andyowens54944 жыл бұрын
Most of the drains he clears in this area are poorly designed; a significant number could just be replaced by cuts through the kerb, allowing the water to drain down the verge (like the one he cleared in the middle of this vid), rather than through a grate and down a narrow pipe. You probably live in an area with drainage designed by someone who studied civil engineering, rather than politics with media studies :).
@xman76954 жыл бұрын
Sometimes he drives around 1 hour to clear drains
@katherineroland60084 жыл бұрын
He’s in New England. Lots of factors. Older road designs, salt/sand applied to roads for winter storms that accumulate at curbside, collection of fallen leaves in the drains (especially if it was windy) and of course trash. The salt takes a toll on the roads, wearing them out faster. Also I’ve noticed many videos in wooded areas which ups the leaves 🍁 quotient.
@jansilha36234 жыл бұрын
@@JoshuaMuse yeah exactly, we can call it the Pennywise drain, these ones are a pretty modern design, allow debris to be floated away and usually have bigger pipes leading the stuff away. The one with the grate AND the slit in the curb is also problematic because that grate catches the leaves and blocks the slit... but the design with the curbs and then ONE SMALL damn drain with those small holes, it pisses me off.

Something satisfying about watching that water drain away. I used to do this for an HOA. I got a scoop shovel and drilled some half-inch holes all over the bottom of it. I could stir up the leaves and debris with the rake and then scoop out the leaves and debris away from the drain with the shovel. That way the debris didn’t keep finding its way back to the drain. I hope the motorists in your city appreciate all the hard work you do.
