Evening all, thanks for stopping by. Today we're back in night city, this time there's a distinct lack of water... luckily, it's made exploring Cyberpunk 2077's underwater ghost town a real breeze. Join the Kingdom! - / discord

This mission is one of many reasons that makes Cyberpunk 2077 a special game. It has nothing to do with the main plot or what's going on with your character but it is a great little story within a story for one of the characters you meet in the game. It's beautiful.
@tacidian75732 ай бұрын
Going around doing all these side stories only to release that I just stepped into an entire side quest line is the type of stuff that makes me replay these games over and over again.

Jackie's offrenda, this mission, there's quite a few that are purely for the emotions, they don't really advance much of anything. Really refreshing in a game of this kind.
@unclemikeyplaysАй бұрын
This mission sold me on the fact that this game, even when it was still quite imperfect, had heart. I never fail to befriend Judy even if I'm playing a male V who can't romance her, and the fact that you CAN do that, that you can become good, solid friends with the characters even if you can't romance them, is one of the smartest decision the game writers made.
@ashryver3605Ай бұрын
Missions like this and "Heroes" (the funeral for Jackie, specifically the Misty segment carrying 80% of it) are what Cyberpunk should have had. If you basically isolated the game to the Jackie prologue crafted quest experience, and quests like this, it would be king for most immersive and emotional/engaging questlines in any game for me.

If I remember correctly, in this mission, you scan for Judy's childhood items from memory (dialogue triggers) and interact with them. You swim in a circle, looking for the triggers, and end up in the church for the final dialogue. That's the limit of the player's interaction with Laguna Bend.
@thorleif88722 ай бұрын
Yeah, Judy invites you to test some new braindance tech she is working on. And you can romance her during the quest if you are playing as female V.
@bowiemtl2 ай бұрын
This mission also raises some interesting questions regarding the relic and the concept of braindances. You get a stroke that ends this mission, and before and after there is some dialogue regarding Johnny that Judy somehow manages to pick up without going into too much detail.

@Immopimmo2 ай бұрын
The reason Laguna Bend is so small is because it's basically just like a movieset for Judy's quest. The only parts you can see are the ones in the quest area. In lore it's a bigger area with its own school and probably own fire station since Judy mentions fixing up an old firetruck when she was younger. I don't believe that we were ever supposed to explore it without the water because they never bothered with building the rest of the town.
@Brian_Rogers2 ай бұрын
The firetruck incident happens after she moves to Night City. The first time she tries to drive NCPD arrests her for stealing it.
@KillR000Y2 ай бұрын
I imagine in reality the town is actually much bigger which would make it more reasonable to have a church and a diner, but because you only explore a small section it only made sense to model the small area, then again I'm no town planner expert. Also ironically on the subject of weird assets being used, I found a lit candle on one of the porches.. underwater, so potentially that leads to the theory it wasn't always meant to be underwater, or maybe the devs were pasting in assets and didn't realise they'd placed a lit candle at the bottom of a reservoir.
@redscarfinfinite97432 ай бұрын
This area was actually referenced in the farm mission when you're going through the guys memory there's supposed to be a school in lagonna bend but the devs put it somewhere else so the water doesn't bug the mission out
@psycho14502 ай бұрын
I found the school you were talking about, you have to cross the border for this, but it's hard to look around in the school because it seems to be suspended in the air so far above the ground.

That’s wild that you haven’t done this mission, I’d expect you of all people to have hundred per enter the game. The reason only that middle section of freeway is so detailed is because that’s the one section you dive through to get down to the town with Judy. You start the dive at that little lonesome hut at the edge of the lake which is right next to the detailed part of the road

@WolfHeathen2 ай бұрын
They still haven't patched out the live candle burning on the porch of one of the houses. It's pretty much the first house you see during the mission, too. The fact that CDPR hasn't fixed this small yet glaringly obvious error is astounding to me considering the massive changes the game has gone through since release. For those of you who perhaps haven't seen it yet: the "elevator" is located at the corner between two houses. If you follow Judy after you reach the bottom she swims between the two houses towards the street that goes to the church past the diner, her home and the gas station: three houses on the left, two houses and a gas station on the right. The very first house on your right (across the street from the diner, two houses away from the gas station, right next to the elevator) there's a lit candle on the porch.
@Mox2077Ай бұрын
They probably haven't fixed it because it doesn't have any impact on the game and they thought it was funny so they left it alone.

That church looks to be the same layout as the Voo Doo Boy's church. Which had a Screen Computer room on one side and the other went into the underground tunnels. So many buildings are identical and just pasted into the world. Got to remember there was a degree of laziness with the young and inexperienced Dev's. They were actually pretty good at what they did, but they cut corners in many places. Using the exact same above ground building models for underwater to just save on time. That shack under the ground is one proof that the Dev's were slack and were not paying attention to details. One obviously accidentally stuck it there when they pasted it to the map and must of got interupted and forgot where it went and just pasted another over the top of it in its place, and many more buildings are not placed properly and are half submerged and only show the top half of their doors. Those are not deliberately placed like that, that is just thrown there and close enough was good enough.
@Max_MustermannАй бұрын
Asset reuse isn't necessarily about laziness. Sure, it saves time and development resources, but it also saves disk space and memory. Plus a lot of games use modular buildings, which means that two buildings can look very similar yet not be 100% identical.

It might not be that interesting, but if you explore the area beyond the tidal protection structures (the line of big ominous structures that can be seen from the coast) there's a small island that I believe the devs used for testing different terrain types. @@Andy_from_de I've only played the game as fem V, but I think I know what I you mean since I got the same uncomfortable feeling when doing River's mission where he invites you to dinner. Since my V was already happily dating Judy at that point, the romantic undertones between V and River during the dinner felt really off. No idea if it's the same playing it as male V, but I assume so. I think that is one flaw in Cyberpunk 2077 that these missions are pretty much the same whether you're romancing the character or not, and that can make it feel really odd at times. There should be some clear difference if you shot down any romance beforehand by telling them you're not interested, or if (like Judy for male V) the romance isn't even available.
