The two things Drake has going for him that allowed him to become a pop rapper: 1. His Biracial phenotype is more palatable to the main stream aka Non-Black people. 2. His voice and delivery. That’s his biggest edge as an MC. Not his writing skills or his cadence choices (those are borrowed & unoriginal), Drake has good delivery. He can ALMOST sing, which makes his rapping voice/tone pleasing to the ear. That’s his only gift.

Drakes nvr been a freestyle rapper like even when I liked him back then most people knew he was a studio rapper. He actually can write, most of his work is actually him, the people who have worked with him know he can. From what he claims that it’s more of a back and forth between him and whoever he’s writing with. Only he knows how much isn him and the rest is others like ok for sure he’s a better rapper than Kanye. Also he has made claims that it’s an industry standard that everyone uses uncredited people to help write which I kind of do believe, even if it’s minor like say someone in the studio heard u say something and they didn’t like it they would say something or suggest a change etc like do they get credit? Idk what if they suggest a new bar for one of ur lines or recommend a different flow etc do they get credit? What if bars are removed later down production because they weren’t seen as good writing credits?

VtownJAMES first in foremost because I disagree with your point of view doesn't mean I lack intelligence in any manor. By your definition this wouldn't be freestyles rapping it would be freestyle writing. Traditionally freestyling in regards to hip hop is freestyle rhyming words off the top of your head at random. It's origin was on the Block in cypher circles rapping whatever comes to mind. Calling this a freestyle in regards to the art of rapping is a misrepresentation.
