New englander homer and Pats fan here… I’m worried about this pick. He’s missing 10-15 yard throws against air!!?? 😓👎👎. Something is missing with this guy. You can’t draft this QB with WR1 & WR2 still on the board. We should’ve drafted Malik Nabers… Drake Maye is a project. I’d rather invest that time in a QB further down the draft board than miss out on guaranteed playmakers. Give me Joe Milton in the 3rd or 4th Rd instead.

Statistically he has some major red flags that people are concerned about. One of the lowest accuracy’s last year ( ranked 59th in QBs with over 100 throws) and 56% accuracy against ranked teams. He’s also the ONLY QB in the DRAFT CLASS to decrease in QBR and completion %, yet increase in INTs every year he’s played. Not worth a Day 1 pick but I’m no scout, they can draft this bust.

@@mayowaerinle6541 well that’s not true. He increased his completion percentage, got hurt his last couple games, no receivers of his got drafted ( Drake Maye has 1-2 going ) and scouts were worried about his turnover percentage…. I believe they are both going to be elite, so it does not matter who Washington takes to be honest. if I had to choose I guess I would take Drake only because I’m just concerned about Jaden taking so many hits in the NFL. His arm is live. Gets the ball out on intermediate routes with some pop. I don’t like his deep throw style because they look like moonballs. Some of his misses were pretty wild though, and it seemed like mechanical issues that cause some variance in delivery. So he might throw five out routes to the same location, and each throw is a yard away from the other.
@dvsxavier

Drake makes the deep throw look effortless. Look at those rainbows. Today's throwing session had a good mix of touch, accuracy, and deep ball. I think with multiple reps along with good supporting cast of players will likely develop into a quality starter.

Drake Maye 24 passing tds, 3600 yds, 9 ints, 9 rushing tds 76 qbr in the ACC. So your comparing pro days? While the actual game stats are in favor of Daniel's. Maye could fit very well in a Stefanski esque playbook which Van Pelt should use in New England. A running game based scheme which use those West Coast Offense routes mostly after some play action situation. He has the arm strengh, his foot work is not terrific but works very well and he can scramble fast enought to allow his receivers to get open field. But Mayo and AVP have to understand he needs to sit for a year though...

What got me was how after the last two seasons he was the consensus 2nd QB off the board, possibly first. Now, nothing has changed, he’s dropped to third or maybe fourth. It was accepted that UNC had a difficult season, there was little depth at WR and the OL play wasn’t great and this affected Maye output. That’s on the coaches and recruiting but Maye is the one that is getting hurt by that. He is a talented kid, he has all the tools and you could see he wanted to work on the missed throws. But equally no QB in the NFL is perfect every game and hits every throw, so he shouldn’t have to be at the pro day either.

I've done a little scouting. I played some ball and even coached some ball and taught a couple of good QBs how to throw. Everyone thinks they know how to throw and worse thinks they know how everyone SHOULD throw. Different bodies different motions. No two are the same. All you can do is improve on whatever talent they already have. Refine their skills so to speak. But by the time you get to the Pros your Motion should be set in stone. Sure they can work on your footwork, but they ain't messing with your motion unless you've got a hitch ala Tim Tebow or a big wind-up like Brian Leftwich. Mainly all of that should be worked out already. But your release? That ain't being taught at this point. If you've got a slow motion and a slow release you're a back up at best. You're going to get picked a lot, sacked a lot, benched a lot.... And Retired early.

I don’t care what anybody says. I see late first early second round QB. This kid is raw as hell. His delivery is long. His feet are sloppy. He under throws all the time. Not consistent. The reason you draft the kid of because of size. A little speed. And long distance arm strength. He doesn’t have elite velo like the best of best. This kid needs the Jordan love plan. You put this kid on the patriots with no elite weapons anf starting year 1. He will 100 percent bust. He needs the Vikings and sit behind darnold and throwing to JJ and hock

He fits the New England mold but not sure if they'll be able to develop him. Vegas has the weapons to support him, maybe he sits behind Minshew for a little bit but they're two different QB's in terms of style, not sure if he fits in their offense. Possibly... Minnesota seems like a solid fit for him with Jettas and Addison, they have Sam Darnold there also, pretty similar styles from the pocket at least, obviously Maye is better and can do more. I think Minnesota is aware that they'll have to develop Maye and they have the pieces to do so. The only questions now I think are do they really want him (Maye), are they willing to trade up for him, or do they stick where they are and just take JJ McCarthy.
