Will Drake Maye be the second QB taken in the draft??
@mikejones12602 ай бұрын
Yes he will be the second qb taking but I believe that you have to have an intermediate passing game in your arsenal. I believe that with the right system and coaches and players Drake will be the best quarterback at the end of this season. I hope that Ryan Poles shocks the world by picking Maye with a trade to number 2 let Washington have CW I would be fine with that how many times did you see CW throwing to his TE’s hardly ever ever and this new system that the Bears will be running a 3 TE sets that’s not CW game but what do I know

EVERYTHING is off platform in some way, and people gush about it, forgetting that we've never seen a great NFL QB look/play like Caleb does. There's an array of plays/throws that pay the bills at the NFL level and Drake is simply the best at it among this class. This throw is like Brady but with more velocity.. the way he frequently just side steps in the pocket to get better clearance and then zip, completion/TD. This is all over Drake's film.

Accuracy, accuracy is a concern for me. Maye seems to have all the tools, but I saw him not complete the pass a number of times last year whether in the pocket or on the move that makes me scratch my head. i understand two wide receivers went to the NFL in 2023 and the offensive line was certainly not up to par. With that being said, the QB still has to make the play in certain conditions which Maye didn't do last season. Can accuracy be taught? Yeah; take Josh Allen for instance 52.8% his rookie season made significant improvement his second year, and has been very sharp since his 3rd year. Chase Daniel 13 years in the NFL ; all time great at Missouri Tigers; went to the same high school Southlake (TX) Southlake Carroll HS as Greg McElroy and Quin Ewers so Daniels knows his stuff. It's just that Drake Maye just left me wanting last season particularly on some routine throws.

I don't think Maye is a bad QB, but so many people act like he was on a team of nobodies. he did have a WR that is likely a 2nd round pick. Also the schedule he played against wasn't exactly great. While Miami was ranked (25th) at the time they played they finished as a five-loss team. Miami also gave up a ton of passing yards so its understandable that this was maybe his best game. I think you do a good job breaking down QBs, but you tend to drift toward hyperbole while trying to make them look good the pass at around the 11 minute mark that you say multiple times is a tight window throw when there's a yard and a half to two yards separation for example. Again I like your breakdowns, but I just think that it would they would be better if they were more breakdowns. There could be five or more QBs drafted in the first round this year and more than likely 4 of those guys won't get a fifth option picked up by the team that drafts them.

@JodyFoster, Good comments. North Carolina scored the same points/game in 2023 as in 2022 but gave up fewer points in 2023. The hit rate on high 1st round QB’s isn’t great. Top 10. If there are 5 standouts in a class the numbers say 1 can be excellent. 1 or 2 will be good/average. The rest will be busts. If there are only 2 or 3 standouts the numbers say average/bust. Only 7 QB’s taken number 1 have won the SB and two of those were back ups.

I know that everyone is sold on CW but I believe that Maye going to the right system with the right coaches and players he will be the best quarterback at the end of the year. He has played on teams that played a pro style offense but didn’t have the players around him his throws are very crisp and I believe his without a doubt the best pocket passer coming of this draft I hope that the Bears truly do their best work and really analyze these top 2 quarterbacks and if they have the vision on Maye then they can shock the NFL with taking Maye but it would finally be the very first true talent at quarterback that they have ever had but what do I know

@@mikejones1260 it's more about landing spot and the surrounding cast. the bears have that. washington and new england do not. you take the guy with the highest upside and potential in a good situation. going to chicago almost guarantees that he will be more successful. he can be a game manager for most of the season. meanwhile whoever goes to washington or new england will have to put the team on their back. that's how you break a young qb and how busts are created. rarely ever has a bust been unworthy of being taken in the 1st round. they were a bust because of their circumstances.

Wow so offensive line matters? 🤔 yet people want to replace Daniel Jones with Maye. But will he have an Oline there?
@aricrobinson1682Ай бұрын
If you're saying he struggled due to lack of Offensive line then I wouldn't want to select him. Sam Howell led.the league in yards and TDs through well 10 with virtually no offensive line. So we would've been better off keeping Howell and taking Marvin Harrison Jr instead of drafting Maye
@tterbtube8399Ай бұрын
I wanted Harrison too but I’m happy with Maye. Washington O-line was way better than Carolina’s last season. Washington’s line broke down 38% of the time 23-24 season Carolina was 59% of the time. That’s a big difference. And Drake only had 29 sacks that season and Sam Howell had 65

Totally disagree on almost ever play analyzed. He has happy feet. He doesn't feel pressure worth a damn. No pocket presence. He doesn't anticipate. He doesn't "read" well. He needs a clean pocket. Your first "dot", on the post, was a a wide open WR and he put the ball on him. Nothing special. What he did do is make up his mind in the huddle that he was throwing that ball. Drake Maye will be the next big QB bust.

Why so much love for flawed North Carolina QB prospects from Trubisky to Howell to Maye? Great PR departments I expect. The Commanders tried and then traded Howell so why would they draft another QB from the same system and coach with eerily similar stats (to Howell) and both deficient in so many areas. It's a disservice to cherry pick a few plays as 'proof' that Maye is a superior prospect when he is flawed. On a regular basis his footwork doesn't match his eyes, his ball placement is too often sub-optimal. He makes poor decisions under pressure. He's brave (too much so) and a good but not great athlete. He has a strong arm but lacks nuance as a passer and often doesn't throw with anticipation. Maye does make some splash plays but, in game, play to play he is inconsistent. Watch his game tape, not his highlights. He is NOT Josh Allen nor Justin Herbert. He is a bigger Sam Howell.

I wouldn't touch Maye with a 10' pole for one reason, the numbers show he is just atrocious under any kind of pressure! He was "pressured" on 149 dropbacks last year, and... -sacked 29 times -attempted 90 throws -completed 39 of them Yikes. Do you realize how bad that is? Forced to run 59 times, sacked half of those. When he got a pass off, completion rate was 43% (39/90). Pros gotta stand in there and deliver. He completed just 39 passes on 149 plays DESIGNED to be a pass. Deal. Breaker.

You see Justin Herbert. I see Ryan Tannehill. If it wasn’t for his injuries Penix Jr is the best QB coming out. That’s my opinion and if I want my opinion I’ll ask for it. I’m a Vikes fan and they need to stand pat at #11 and take Penix Jr. You’re showing me Sam Darnold here, which we already have. Take Penix, screw the Pats and Skins, Commanders, whatever. Don’t trade the farm away and get Penix, keep the picks alive. Penix can make every throw with ease and even better from the neck up. And who does Penix best remind you of? Stroud. Exactly my point. Cat just needs to stay healthy. Word.
@NYGiantsRush2 ай бұрын
Sam Darnold barely played QB. He was a WR & LB in HS. Missed his JR year with injury. So he played his SR year and two years in college. Drake Maye has been around QB's his whole life... as his dad was the UNC QB 20 years prior. He also committed to Alabama before switching to UNC. So Sabean thought highly of him also. Penix is great, but two ACL's, a shoulder injury and concussions...red flag. He does have a great arm.
