Never thought I could relate to Drake this much. I'm a male SA victim, it happened way back when I was 12. And he couldn't have explained it better. I don't remember much of my childhood and turn myself into an alcoholic just to forget the pain. I've been working with at-risk youth for a few years now and no matter how hard it gets seeing myself in them, showing them they can come out of it stronger has been everything to me. I don't know how to say this but after listening to this song and watching the video for about 20 times it seems like Drake isn't talking as a star but as a private person. The way he sings "I know I was wrong" at the end seems to me like he isn't doing that for image purposes. He is talking from the heart.

The line “No one knocks at my door” hits hard. I’ve known the kind of people that are around when times are fun for them, but disappear like a dang ghost when you need some kind of help or support. They feel you’re good enough to cover their meal at a restaurant, or to come to their birthday party to bring gifts, or to come over to hang out with them when they’re feeling low, but when you need something, suddenly they can’t be bothered (and furthermore, according to them, you’re selfish for wanting the same courtesy you gave them). I knew someone who thought it was perfectly fine for her to blow off appointments she made with me without warning or explanation the second something else came up, leaving me waiting by the door for a car that wasn’t going to show up. It hurts to have someone treat you like some random chore to be shrugged off.

To anyone saying it's "weird" or "scummy" to release this song after the docuseries, or it's some kind of attempt at "positive PR", quiet on set was the first time he's ever publicly talked about what he's been basically keeping for 20 years, and the positive PR thing??? It's hard to realize that, while we as teenagers we enjoyed Drake's lyrics and acting, he was dealing with a lot of hard and terrible things in his life. He was reaching his dreams, but paying a high price. The only thing I think I can do now is to continue supporting his job (music, concerts, acting) and appreciating the job that he has made for a long time.

As a SA survivor, I want to give him a huge hug. As children we are supposed to be protected, and the people we looked up to completely failed us. The memories never leave, we just learn to ignore it. He is a grown man now, im sure hes been through all the self hate, suicidal thoughts, and days wondering, "Why me?". Drake you are a fucking badass. Huge hug from all of us who have suffered in silence. You were never alone, and you are loved.

I pray he has a strong enough comeback to help advocate for proper therapy for abused children. There’s a point where a child is a victim and they can be helped, then there’s a point where they become an abusing adult and no one wants to help them, which is understandable. But us as a society truly fail the child victims and don’t help them before they become monsters, or live a life full of depression.

Drake admitting the humilating and traumatic experiences was tough and courageous. But what's more courageous is that he admits he isn't perfect, made a lot of mistakes, and wants to make up for them. It takes a lot of humility to admit your faults, and that your past victimization doesn't exonerate or excuse your faults.

As a recovering addict and child actor myself, keep going Drake. Find your light and keep making your own magic, people are listening.

In Hollywood I was barely there a year doing auditions in my early twenties. I was living with my friends and my friend Charlie heard music in the yard behind us. He told me it was drake bell and if we wanted to go meet and hang with him. I did not believe it was ACTUALLY him. He was so nice. Listened to our original music and showed us some stuff. Then we sang like 3 Ben folds songs together while he played the piano. Drake is a master musician and creative powerhouse. You have a returning fan here from the UK, I’ve been spending the last few weeks catching up on your music collection, rewatching Drake & Josh and doing a bit (well a lot) of research of what I’ve missed particularly over the last few years. You’re so well articulated and so kind and generous with people who you may not have a closer relationship with now, but you’re always so complimentary and articulate why things are different, or how they could be better, which is Something I really love about you as a person. Our life experiences can sometimes break us and be so hard to overcome, people on social media can be so cruel & Judge mental But I hope you are on a path to healing some of those wounds, and being a better person that most of us know that you are.
