This is a video devoted exclusively to the aerial class. The dramatic and really cool music is from an X-Box game from Batman Arkham City. The composer is Nick Arundel.
In addition to the recruits, this segment features just one training instructor, Captain Anthony Williams. As they climb the 109-foot aerial, that's Lookout Mountain in the distance.
To see Part 4, click here • Gears of War Theme at ... .
This video was a gift to the graduates of Chattanooga Fire Academy 2012 and is not for sale. No profit was made from the production of this video.

I did the 75 foot! I was so nervous for over a week… I just stepped up and did it, one step at a time. The last section is always the hardest because you can see through the rungs easier. I just focused on the rungs, sang a song and kept going! Once it’s over you feel so accomplished plus adrenaline! Congrats!

@@ed9492 yes they do. They can't move a ladder that large and heavy without having the truck braced properly and they can have multiple guys getting the blocks in place and setting down the outriggers so it's faster.

Its not the greatest feeling the first time you climb an aerial but you get over it quickly once you realize the end of the stick is the last safe (for the most part) point before entry.

The people thinking this is easy don't understand what it's like to be at the tip of a 100ft Fishing Pole in the wind..... Mountains don't move. lol. Towers don't even sway much... This is portable, ultra light weight and flexible. FISHING POLE. you're also climbing this fishing pole with 80 Pounds of gear (SCBA/etc) offsetting your balance Backwards while having to holding on wearing essentially oven mits & slippery rubber boots.... usually everything is soaking wet wild waterworks slidepark...… Having a complete face mask on does NOT help visibility at all and you can't really hear anything or anyone while you're up there. if there's smoke, you can't see anything at all. Nevermind the heat. Also, can you carry someone 200+ pounds unconcious back down that ladder under those circumstances with the entire world watching with their iphones recording, flames blazing around waiting for you to screw up on? Good Luck ya'll! So easy! I always tell people, if you think it's so great, feel free to sign up and come join us... Nothing stopping you, we always need another good Firefighter!

Reminds me of "Truck Ops" class in the *80's in Fairbanks, Alaska. Using University of Fairbanks 135 foot stick in class , climbing to the top, hooked in and staring at my boots, the lower ladder, operator and the ground. It made for an amazing photo (my view)..
