A CAT 1 is making havoc in Houston. What if it was CAT 4?
@gmingfool
@gmingfool Ай бұрын
Having been through several hurricanes, that was no lower cat 1. It was probably closer to a 2. Also, our ground water is very close to the surface, so trees grow their roots mostly horizontally, which makes them weaker than other trees.

@pintorpi333 Ай бұрын
@@gmingfoolPlus, the May storms which actually dropped a lot more water, immensely saturated the ground, which made it soggier and weaker.

I have lived here all my 49 years. We have gone through hurricanes before that we just scoffed at in terms of wind. Alicia in 83 which was Cat3 and Ike which was a strong Cat2 were the ones with destructive damage. Harvey was all flooding from days of it sitting on us and dumping 50+ inches of rain. Beryl did not hit like a Cat1 at all. I am not sure what made it stronger of a storm than it was categorized as, but it was not a typical Cat1. All of the tornado warnings with it, I suspect there were lots of briefly spawned tornadoes that caused much of the damage around the Houston area. My part of west Houston/Katy took the eyewall head on and those on the eastern side of the wall got even more rotation. Thats the only thing I can figure. The damage seen from Beryl is not typical of a Cat1 storm. I just hope CP gets their act together and gets power back to everyone.

I was up in Spring and we have just about what this video shows. The good news is that we just got our power back on. We had 4 houses that I know of with half their house smashed by falling trees. The place looks like a war zone.

This pretty much shows what we experienced. Scarier than Ike. I’ve been here since the late 80s and this the worst wind I have seen.

I remember Alicia and Ike having howling winds but not this storm. Not sure why this Cat 1 storm created so much tree and fence destruction. The city will be picking up tree debris for months. There was something different about this storm, maybe the winds were more twisted instead of straight line.

More rain before the storm and most of the wind than there was before Ike. I think that loose soil had a lot to do with the number of large trees that fell. Most of the Houston metro area was on the dirty side of Beryl and the "clean" side of Ike. Ike was a much larger storm and the wind was stronger. I was five years old during Alicia so I don't remember it as well.

What's happening across the world is alarming! And it's not normal. But people are still not paying attentions and praying for God's mercy to falls through for humanity, because they are so preoccupied in the sphere of life and put God in their boxes somewhere. But there will be darker days ahead of us until we take the necessary steps to repent and turn our lives around to make it right with the most high God. 😔 ❤

In 2008, Hurricane Ike came up the other side of Houston, and it was just as bad. I was out of power for six days and a damaged roof. If you live on the Gulf Coast of the USA, you get hurricanes. It is entirely normal.

You're soooo right. 🙄Thanks for the heads up! This year has been the WORST weather that has ever been!!!! Ohhhh....wait....... nevermind. That's not true. 😬 Still, it's definitely had the most casualties due to weather so far, no doubt. Ooope, scratch that, my bad lol. This year hasn't even been the worse year in recent past few years. But just to prove my point further, Google 536 AD. NOW THAT is one of the worst years ever. 2024 is an active year, with plenty of tragedies of its own, but hardly the apocalyptic year you're saying it is. Sorry. 😂🤷‍♀️

While Hurricane Beryl closed in on Texas, Greg Abbott was visiting South Korea and Ted Cruz was whale watching in Southern California. Texans deserve better.

I'm sure Abbott was already in SK and Cruz had a vacation already planned . Can they stop hurricanes? Texas stop whining and be prepared.

8:54 Let me get this straight: You're under a tropical storm and you only fear tornadoes? Or do you fear tornadoes spawned by land-falling tropical storms? Why do you live in TX then?
