If you are looking for LARGE pieces of muslin, look for Quilter's muslin, or Backing muslin. It's 108" - 120" wide. It's made for Quilters who don't want a pieced back. It can often be purchased by the bolt.

Oh my lord I am obssessed with these wonderful videos! I have been experiencing a lot of anxiety and depression lately over my year 12 formal coming up next year and I can't afford a nice looking formal ballgown. I have responded by taking a deep step and making my own dress for this year. I believe your videos are extremely helpful and mind blowing on how gorgeous the dress can be with your tricks and tips that are understandable. I hope my dress can turn out as fantastic as your gowns do, I'm taking so many notes and rewatching your videos constantly!

Good luck. One suggestion to help you, make a mock up. If you don't know what that is, it's where you make the dress with super cheap material, like muslin, as a practice to making the dress before you make the dress with the pricier fabric. It's your chance to make sure the fit is right and that you understand how to sew it together well. This way you make mistakes on cheap fabric and don't accidentally ruin the nice fabric.

Hi Nick! I'm a bit of a beginner at draping and designing, and I was wondering how I use the muslin draped to make the actual skirt? Thank you and I really love your videos - they're so useful!
@XxBlueEyedxX3 жыл бұрын
Hi, he made a series about how he made a prom dress for his niece. In one video, he showed how he transfers a mockup to a pattern. Basically what you do is cut it clean (if you draped both sides you will notice that they are not a 100% symmetrical. You have to find something "in between" or choose the "nicer" side). Then, you copy your mockup on paper WITH ALL THE MARKINGS! Before you use your nice fabric, make sure you make a quick mockup before, sometimes you have to change it a little bit so that it fits perfectly. You will either transfer those changes on your pattern (if they are not very drastically and if you feel sure about it) or you will make do the same steps again until you are satisfied with your mockup.
