This method uses all built-in tools, including the selection tools and paths, and is highly customizable for your own unique styling. With this method, you can draw an arc with a solid line, dotted line, dashed line, or even a pattern.
GIMP is a free raster-based photo editor most similar to Photoshop. It can also be used for shape drawing and graphic design.

good tutorial davies big steps for gimp ! In my opinion ,I prefer in this geometry a inkscape!

Great ! There is an other way : after the circle, "Selection", "Border", 7 (for example), remove the low part and fill with color.
