Drawbridge rasies for 3 boats

This video was shot in Belmar at the Ocean Ave drawbridge across the Shark River.
After spending the day in Belmar, me and mother headed home. While on our way, we got stoped by the Ocean Ave drawbridge which was opening to allow 3 boats into the inlet.
Unfortunately i couldn't get the first gate going down, but i got everything else. This is my first time catching a drawbridge in action! What i have noticed is that alot of drawbridges are using electronic crossing bells now instead of mechanical ones.

newer gates for drawbridges here in Florida and ones being renovated still use mechanical bells made by WC Hayes.

Never seen a GS type 2 e-bell used for a drawbridge. I'm familiar with drawbridges that uses m-bells like the ones on prince Frederick road, the capital beltway, the ocean gateway, and the Baltimore beltway.

that electronic gong is probably alot louder than its predecessor. lol it's very interesting. i would do a WC Hayes E gong.

Awesome catch! In the beginning of the video there is a black and yellow sign that says, "Slow, Raise Plow Blade" what does that mean?

Thank You Its a sign telling Snow plow operators to raise their plows before crossing the bridge, it only applys in the winter months when it snows.

A bunch of other boats utilize the Shark River Inlet. Mostly all of them are fishing boats or yachts. Beach access is permitted a few feet south of you right where the wood fence ends. The bell was replaced some time in late 2015 or early 2016 if I remember. The old bell was the same one as in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLR5mZpi1ajbmqs.html

That doesn't make any sense for Shared Assets to team up with a bridge used solely for vehicles.

last time I was there the old mechanical bell is still on site. Its just not functional. It worked until a few years ago.

It had a mechanical bell a few years ago, i think it was damanged back when we had Hurricane Sandy in 2012, so they went with an E-Bell

Its simply this is the new technology, its possible the old bell was given away to an official or past bridge tender, but the fact is the old mechanical bells are starting to fail and not work anymore so they have to be replaced.
