I don’t think I’ve ever replied two separate times to anyone’s post on YT, but after putting my drawing thing’s away for a rest, I’m compelled to comment again. I owe you a debt of gratitude Betsi!🙏 Although I followed along with/my paper pad propped up on a pillow and myself as well in bed 😊, I was able to focus and drown out the noise and stressful situation for 2 1/2hrs. I have a partial drawing that has some dimension and I’m quite proud of regardless of some seriously wonky lines, haha! Furthermore, I know that when I get stronger and can sit at a desk/table, that I will achieve an even more satisfying result. Thank you for sharing this live archived video today! Bc I’m stopping and starting it so much, I think this may be the best for me now…even though I do want to join your live’s. Have a beautiful evening and night sweet lady and Ty for being such a lovely soul 💜✨

Darn it, life happened and I see I missed your live Miss Betsi! Of course, I was awake haha, as night owls are at this hour 🤗 I’m going to watch this one right now, and hopefully not get interrupted in any way…this is my favorite channel to watch all because of you dear, sweet lady 💜 Yes, all we can do is try our best (you commenting on someone in your live chat), this is one of my favorite credos and lifelong way. Just an fyi for watercolorists... those pens do not stay waterproof if you are planning to do watercolors over your drawing. It creates a gray wash that mixes in with your colors. You can do a colorwash first, then do your drawing over it, but not in reverse. Maybe it's because of the difference in paper. I do like the pens a lot for black and white only, or if adding color with colored pencils. Thanks for the recommendation. They flow very nicely, which makes it easier on your hands. And thank you for your calming artistic expression and style.

You make a really good point when I use these pens, they don't stain when I use ink washes or other light application of water, but if you plan to do anything more involved its best to always do a test just to make sure its truly waterproof. Thank you for clarifying 💙

I am glad to have you discuss the pens. I am a total geek about writing and art instruments, I am 67, so I have done pen drawings using technical drafting pens (clogged easily). I can’t help but try new to me pens, really brings me joy.

Glad you enjoy chatting about pens ☺️. For some reason micron pens have never really worked for me, so I'm always on the prowl for different pens. I seem to enjoy brush oens a lot, as well as inexpensive fineliners. Recently I've even been practicing with dip pens.✍️

Apart from your journal, what do you do with your gorgeous pictures? Do you turn them into cards? Frame them?

This may sound a little strange, but I'm pretty happy filling my journals. Occasionally I put up some of my drawings on the wall by my desk, but most of my work stays in the journals. My main reason for this is that I'm experimenting, learning, growing. Once in a while I'll be truly inspired and I'll commit to making a piece for framing or gift-giving. Mostly my purpose in drawing is to enjoy the process 🌄

The way you are using the bic pen is called pen flicking. I use that technique to color in my ball point pen drawings.

I use a piece of wood, atop a few boxes, to hold up my ipad😅, and I don't have a case on it yet.

The app I use is called Sketchbook. It's free and (in my opinion) fairly easy to use. I know a lot of people prefer Procreate but I've never used it myself.

It would be super helpful if next time you stream you have the forethought to know what materials you'll likely use as to warn us ahead of time so we can be prepared for the livestream with you. Idky, but needing that ballpoint pen killed me. Lol I had everything here except that and I couldn't find one, haha.
