But big mouth is a blip separate from this all of these ugly cartoons they are talking about came out and aired either at the same time or very close to each other. You could finish as told by genger flip the chanle and watch cow and chicken or rin and stimpy... I guess it doesn't mean as much when you can look whatever you want up but... trust me it was an era.

Ya know? I respect the stylistic choices they made for As Told by Ginger and The Wild Thornberrys. I'm pretty sure that for a very long time those two shows were the only Nick Toons that had a female lead and it would have been super easy to just default to the standard Barbie doll proportions that so many other shows did. You look at those characters and you know they were not designed to sell dressup dolls to children.

I’d like to see other centaurs. Like, people with the lower half of animals that they just really shouldn’t have (Such as those of a Cockroach, snail, bird, or frog) just trying to do normal human things like waiting in a queue or at the bus stop, possibly near other regular humans who are notably uncomfortable. I showed my boyfriend a long time hardcore yugioh fanboy the edd ed and eddy drawing karena did and I watched as his face went through every stage of greif . I aksed him do you know this man? And he said I dont want to talk about it. And I asked again I said do you know who this is . and he told me it was supposed to be yugi and then kicked me out of the room .

My favourite Rugrats fact is that the character designer got so sick of the stumpy limbed, ugly characters that he went on to make Aeon Flux - a cartoon which is all absurdly long skinny limbs and... well still ugly characters, but ugly in a whole new, exciting way.

as a 80s born, rugrats wasnt ugly it was an old cartoon style where they drew mostly in squiggly lines. that was popularized in the 2000s as squiggle vision.

Klasky-Csupo studio made most of the cartoons that they had mentioned (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberries, As Told by Ginger, Rocket Power, Ah! Real Monsters). They were a powerhouse in Nickelodeon animations then and while most people find it unappealing, I think that their contrast with the rest of the cartoons in the 90s-2000s is what made them stand out.

It's funny how many of the cartoons you guys mentioned having an ugly style are just Klasky Csupo cartoons. They made a whole bunch of cartoons in the 90s including Rugrats, Wild Thornberries, Aaah Real Monsters _and_ Rocket Power. And I believe As Told By Ginger used the same artist even if it had a different creator. Yeah the Csupo style is definitely ugly but it's so distinctive and one I really dig. I just love all the weird colors and all the different ways they draw hair. It fully embraces that mentality of "this is NOT reality, this is a cartoon and things are different here."
