My insight and thoughts on these characters. Purely my opinion, obviously Katsumi: a lovable introverted dork who is really book smart and probably freaks out over things really easily. Eimi: the one really extroverted friend who's really sported. I like to think she just thought Katsumi was cool and just kinda started hanging out with her and never left. Just sorta forced Katsumi to be her friend. Yu: the lovable baby who must be protected at all costs. She's just made of sugar. Hukoro: soft spoken and shy. I like to think she's good at singing. I don't know why, I just think it would be really awesome. Azumi: god I hope that's her name. Correct me if I'm wrong. She's the rich bitch of the group. She acts snooty and haughty but when it comes down to it she really just wants people to like her and think she's cool. She's also the friend who'll immediately pay for everything and acts like she doesn't want the gratitude and also pretends like she doesn't want to hang out with the group. Damn I got way to into that.

Listening to Rea talk about all these stories that she comes up with is super interesting and I love it so much. I can't wait for Ginja Ninja Studios to open up and have like 10 series actively running

I can imagine children on the playground setting these toys in a circle as a ceremony on what character they relate to the most. sort of like that one scene from the Tinkerbell movie where she has to pick her element/power.

I love the idea of yu receiving her weapon and she brings it to school and shows it to all her friends like "GUYS GUYS IM A MAGICAL GIRL NOW AND I GOT THIS AWESOME TOY!!!!!!!!" and she starts doing a bunch of yoyo tricks katsumi taught her and accidentally wacks a kid in the face real hard (cuz yknow its not a toy its a weapon) and sends them to the nurses office sobbing and yu gets her yoyo confiscated and it turns into this whole thing of trying to get it back but theres still that one teacher that 'doesnt think they trust yu yet with it since the injury she gave the kid was really severe' so it ends up turning into this entire arc cuz the teacher is actually a villain thats been trying to keep yu from having her weapon so that they can weaken the team im sorry that was so long but yknow when it comes to ya it comes to ya lmao

I love these characters and the world you are building with them, it feels very fresh and unique and I am very excited for what else you can create with Katsumi and co! (Side note, you can have fun with acronyms and have the agency be like a noble word but the acronym is actually evil? ie, G.O.O.D. but it's Ghouls Of Outer Darkness... very dumb and bad example because I'm typing this on the fly but you get the idea!)

Just a random thought that occurred to me (also I'm suuuuper excited to learn more about these guys, they're super cool!!). The way you described Eimi and Katsumi's early relationship with Azumi, reminded me of your introduction video. So now all I can think is that Eimi and Katsumi remind me of you and Katy, and Azumi reminds me of how you and Raine became friends. Sorry if this sounds super intrusive and stalker-y, I didn't intend for it to be that way, I just thought it was funny, because the originals were based on your real life friends.

(stupid) Head cannon: The organization has a name it's just no one can ever remember it, and some of the higher-up/boss people get really pissy when they hear the increasingly ridiculous and ludicrous nicknames for their super serious organization. Some concept nicknames -Build-a-Magical-Girl -Magical-Girls-R-Us -The *Agency* (someone imitates lightning in the distance) - The Magic Academy of frilly Attire - Dumbledore inc

Maybe the organization can be an acronym! Like (on the top of my head), M.G.O.F (magical girl organizational foundation). And could have offices in different cities in the world and be more of a secret from people, but can scope out people to be magical girls, and every magical girl team can have an agent that looks out for them.(this detail can be worked on a lot!) and basically does the really professional details. Also, if anyone actually reads this thank you for listening to my rambles (is that what you call it? Meh)

Fun fact: In Journey to the West, one of the sacred treasures (I think that's what they're called?) Is a fan that blows fire. That's why a fire blowing fan is in anime all the time.

When you said that Yú's dad works a lot of jobs to keep food on the table, I'd imagine him being like Toya from Cardcaptor Sakura and just showing up at the location that they're fighting just working whatever job there and not recognizing Yú in her uniform, and Katsumi just trying to make sure that he doesnt find out XD

I like how Azumi's caption said: "I don't want to be included anyway." Because she was technically excluded from the video, her speedpaint not being recorded, but also that she was probably excluded from whatever the main group was doing.

Had a couple sudden thoughts for little concepts, because I am literally insane like that. But now that I thought of these, I can't stop thinking about them, and I thought you'd find them fun. XD 1) You mention in a later video that more colors equal more power, roughly. So Katsumi starting off with a pure white color scheme means she definitely starts off pretty weak. But what if she starts off SO weak that she can't actually win any fights, and has to get REALLY creative with her powers just to survive? What if her familiar (I know their mascot-transformation-companions don't have a term yet, but I'm calling them familiars, because it makes my monkey brain happy) was the weakest of the bunch, so it picking Katsumi was a big surprise to the recruiters, since she had a lot of potential? Maybe Katsumi even starts resenting her familiar, and becoming a magical girl, until Emi comes along and Kat's outfit gets a new color. At which point, everyone involved figures out more or less how Kat's power works, and the resentment evaporates. But she's still really good at manipulating her powers creatively, because she started off in a very "be clever or you will die" mindset. I dunno, I just have a terrible weakness for characters who are weak but clever, and that concept felt like it'd fit Katsumi fairly well. For the first few episodes, at least. 2) You mention in this video that it'd be hard to make the Familiars look like sentient light while keeping them interesting. And...that's fair. But I had a thought for a design that might work, loosely based on Will-o-Wisps from D&D. Get your central ball of light surrounded by some kind of colored aura, which trails out behind them to look like a tail. Give it some basic darkened splotches for eyes and a mouth, a couple little pseudopods for legs, and you've got yourself a pretty cute mascot that still feels light-themed and alien. For bonus points, you could add little animal motifs like ears or wings. I dunno. You just mentioned sentient glowing balls of light and mascots in the same sentence, and my brain made this image. Hope it helps. ^^

When I heard “light companion” I only imagined the little soot monsters from Ghibli’s spirited away. They could be like that but different colored and perhaps shaped differently to set a tone or present a theme of the type of girl they look to power up. I was just thinking about how ironic and cute it was that the cat actually made friends with the mouse (we all probably know Tom and Jerry) and thought it would be a good idea if Katsumi's companion and Yu's companion were to be rivals. Kat's companion (let's just call them Kitty in the meantime for simplicity) pranked Yu's companion lots of times (we will call this companion Jerry) before the two girls became magical girls. But Jerry stole some of Kitty's possessions in revenge which sparked their rivalry. I imagine in one episode, Katsumi and Yu will try to force them to work together and be friends. But of course, this is your series and this is just an idea. You don't have to use it.

So this isn't relevant to the video but I just wanted you to know that I drew a very round fish with a mini top hat and I named him Bubga and I love him okay bye

Seeing you work on your magical girls gives me more motivation and inspiration to work on my own story and push to get it started! I love your girls and want to see so much more of them!
