Anatomeasy is a series of tutorials I'm starting about the anatomy of different areas of the figure. A lot of the wonderful books and guidance out there about anatomy for artists is comprehensive and therefore quite complex! That's a hard place to start. So I want to help you get started by seeing the things that really matter the most.
In this tutorial, we look at how the strange collection of bumps and indents on the shoulder and upper back can be simplified when you look for a few specific shapes. You can usually find those shapes, you just need to focus on a few clues!
0:00 Why it's hard
1:00 Introducing the 3 shapes
1:53 The first clue
2:20 Clue 2
3:00 Clue 3
3:33 Clue 4
4:36 Clue 5
5:19 Clue 6
5:48 Clue 7
6:24 What if I can't see it?
7:59 Side and front views
8:26 The other muscles
9:17 Why Anatomeasy?
10:01 The ultimate way to learn the basics

Not a day goes by that I am happy that I enrolled to the Study Group! Awesome I can short-repeat that info here!🎉

I believe you meant to say that not a day goes by that you are Not happy you enrolled. That would be a double negative. BOTH sentences are needlessly confusing !

@@josephwalsh7546 Probably - so what would be the one and only CORRECT way to say this?
@josephwalsh7546

@@deear There are many correct ways to say this. The simplest would be replacing " Not a day goes by that " I am happy --- with the phrase-- "Every day "I am happy --- ( much easier, simpler, and crystal clear )

I'll probably join the study group after the holidays are behind us. Before I came to this channel I could draw heads and animals. I figure (pun) master figure drawing was next on the list. This has always been my stumbling block. I'd work on it for a while. I'd show how my figure drawings and get comments like "His legs are too short" or my figures would come out too fat. Two of the tips I got on this channel helped such as 'we tend to shorten the drawing as we go down in the figure' and 'we tend to widen the far side' have shown me why all artists struggle with figures. I'm hooked on this channel now.

This is great and exactly how the art of the human body should be taught, you're doing a great service and these steps shown are on the money. Besides the shoulder as discussed, the next big one is the leg muscles too and from the pelvis.

Super useful. I've never bothered to learn the anatomy of the back. Whenever I'm drawing or painting the shoulder area I'm just winging it, based on the values instead of having an idea of the underlying anatomy. Got to apply this immediately in my next sketches.

Skeleton or muscles? Chicken or Egg? This is exactly the missing link. The idea of acquiring a general understanding of the human form and how it works as an entry to deeper study is my “what isn’t anyone doing this?" question. I’m very interested and hope you produce more like this.
