I worked with Illustrator in Art high School and I don't remember it good. We were doing really structure patterns and I missed lines with ONE pixel, and it already made it look messy and not neat. So I admire your work even more :D

I enjoy drawing myself and my favorite medium to work with is probably just a plain charcoal pencil. As much as I adore the more fancy and flashy mediums, I'm not good at using them myself. But I really enjoy watching videos like these as well; it's easy to be inspired by such lovely works as well as having just the simple joy of seeing such wonderful creations~ :3

I think it is all about working hard towards your goals and being able to make sacrifices to achieve them. I spend most of my free time practicing, making mistakes and learning things :) For example on weekdays after work, I avoid siting down and watching TV (although it is tempting) but instead of that I work on my skills and projects even if I am super tired. Same thing goes with weekends, my schedule is constantly packed. Basically it is up to each of us to decide what we want to achieve in life (we definitely can't get everything we want) and then commit to it and make it happen :)

Your talent just amazes me, it's beautiful work! I draw as well but mainly I use more traditional mediums, I've been experimenting with Copic makers which I love a lot. I used to use illustrator quite frequently when I studied graphic design but unfortunately I never quite learnt how to paint like how you've done, I'd really love to figure it out though and create more digital artworks :)

Wow, this is such a detailed illustration done in illustrator. A bit random but do you have any tips on drawing chibi's? Been trying to teach myself

Haha well I am still learning too so I don't feel like I am nowhere like a master of chibis :P I'd say spend a lot of time studying the proportions and styles that are already out there to see how others do it, learn from their successful attempts as well as mistakes. Do plenty of sketches and studies and incorporate what you like the most in your artwork, for example my favourite part to draw is hair, so I put a lot of emphasis on that part, but I also like beautiful eyes so I spend a lot of time creating shapes that I like.

I really enjoyed you video. I use illustrator when making artwork for the point of sale units I design at work. I now exclusively use it. I'd love it if you could make a small tutorial on what you did to create the gradients in the hair.

Claudia Arends Hi! I hope this will help you, even just a little bit. The program I use is called Clip Studio Paint, there are 3d models of characters in it, people create custom brushes for it and lots of other things. I paid about 12$ because of a discount for CSP. I also heard about paint tool sai, but I don't really use it. I hope this is useful!

If you don't want to pay any money but you really like PaintTool Sai, FireAlpaca is a program I recommend greatly. I used it for about one to two years before I got Sai and they are very similar programs in terms of the fluidity when drawing and the overall feel. Sai does have better blending tools, but apart from that FireAlpaca is basically like a free version of PaintTool Sai. Hope this helps! :)

+takara A yes I made the base first and then use it to make different chibis. I always try to find shortcuts to save time :) I like both chibis with and without noses, it depends on the style, for this one I think without is better.

I've been drawing since I can remember, I started with the traditional pencil&paper, then slowly experimented with pencils, acrylics and other medium as I was getting them for Xmas and my bdays. Then at the beginning of high school I got a tablet as a present from my parents and started learning how to draw in the digital world. I mostly stuck with programs like Open Canvas, Sai and Photoshop until 3 years ago when I got my full time job as an illustrator and was required to do my artwork in vector. So since then I've been doing a lot of vector art as part of my job.

+Play Ju yes I drew the base at first and now I use it for this series of charms :) It saves me a lot of time and helps keeping the designs and proportions consistent

She sketches in Adobe Photoshop, then switches to Adobe Illustrator for the rest of the process. Also, she's using a Cintiq Companion 2. All of this was said in the start of the video. :)

Nina Vermoesen I'm not really good at drawing with Photoshop either but I myself find it easier to scan a picture, trace it in illustrator, and color it Photoshop 😛

If you don't have a good tablet (which just requires lots of practice), you can also draw lines (paths) like in Illustrator with Photoshop's pen tool. And coloring is way easier in Photoshop!

It's just a lot easier to draw with a tablet (like Wacom) or something with a stylus (preferably with pressure sensitivity). Drawing with a mouse is just too hard. (It's possible, but it takes forever and doesn't feel natural.) If you don't have a tablet, the easiest thing to do is draw your picture on paper, scan it, and then color it in Photoshop. If you're good at drawing paths, you can also do lineart in Photoshop or Illustrator.
