Never thought of seeing myself here, until a teacher of mine said that my lines weren't straight it seems that i've been using a ruler wrong for the past 14 years, thanks a lot, professor joshua

Two things: 1. try holding the ruler in the middle applying pressure with your thumb and middle finger 2. try to make the ruler parallel to the edges of the paper...you can always slide the ruler in from the edges. Let me know if this helps.

Technical Drawing Destroyed me. i thought math was something that nothing could defeat but technical drawing is way stronger than a supermassive blackhole.

Could you make tutorial on how to create straight line in asymmetrical/random shape edge paper (without clipboard)? So we can cut the random shape edge paper into straight again? For example: When crafting with wood, cardboard, the leftover material wont be straight line

Whenever i try to draw a square with a ruler, i always seem to get an asymmetrical square, what do i do to fix that?

It's hard to explain in a comment, but I will try. I'm also considering making a video on how to draw a grid that would probably help you. Let me know if that appeals to you. First concept to understand is that distance affects precision immensely. Being a1/8 of an inch off across the span of a page might go undetected, but being 1/8 of an inch off on a 1 inch square will be very noticeable. Next concept, your lines must be parallel for squares and rectangles. Again it helps to have more length in your lines as it is easier to detect if lines are parallel, the longer they are. So even though you are drawing a one inch square, if your guidelines extend all the way to the edges of the page you'll increase your accuracy. Again, without demonstrating, it is difficult to explain and grasp this idea.

@@MisterHen I get the idea, which makes sense to me because whenever I make long lines, I notice it's not precise, but when it's short, It's straight and properly angled. This is such a great help for me, I'll be waiting for your next videos!! Thank you!

How to you keep the ruler straight my grids are not equal squares is there a way to insure the lines will be equal widths apart

There are a couple of techniques to help with this. What size grid are you drawing?

Hey sir whenever i male straight line with a ruler its not properly straight it some what slant any tips for me
@MisterHen9 ай бұрын
Sorry, I just saw your question. You might try a t-square.
@anywaysaditi9 ай бұрын
whenever i try to make a straight line (180°) it gets slanted towards either of the edge. While drawing it looks straight but when I hold it up, it's a slanted line (175-79°)
@MisterHen9 ай бұрын
One thing I do is measure off the edge of the paper before I make my lines. If this method doesn’t work for you, a t-square may be the tool for you.

I am not able to join two distinct points accurately. Do you have any suggestion ? Please I am suffering a lot.
@MisterHen3 жыл бұрын
Yes there are a couple of techniques. Consider the width of the pencil or pen that you are using. Consider where you are pressing down on the ruler. If you hold down with your thumb and middle finger in the center of the ruler, the ruler is less likely to slip when you draw your lines.
