Drayton Manor's New Ride BROKEN?!

Күн бұрынWe were kindly invited by Drayton Manor to ride The Wave rollercoaster but sadly when we arrived it immediately broke down... for the rest of the day...
We did however get to check out the lovely Frontier Falls at Drayton Manor along with a sneaky look at the brand new Goldrush (rumoured name) Intamin Lift and Launch coaster set to open at the park this Spring!

I kinda felt bad that we'd been invited to a ride that was only open for about an hour before we got there and then closed for the rest of the day.... we'll be back Drayton.. we'll be back!

Apparently the restraints lower automatically but they've had issues with guests pulling them down themselves, which causes the system to fault. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened on the day you went.

Gotta give them props. The new theming on ride with the addition of such a great head chopper being a big sign something no uk coaster has and the new track colour looks amazing on it, good to see they are putting lots of thought into it

I've heard the ride experience is good but queue line is poor and the trains look absolutely ridiculous and cheap!

Poor Drayton, they seem to be trying so hard and the park just keeps looking better and better with the money going in, shame that the Wave threw a fit. Frontier section of the park looks great tho! Cracking video. 👌🎢

Ideally once all of the issues are sorted it could do with having a second train. This would speed up ops , as at the minute dispatches are mega slow especially with them having to lower the bar leave it and then push it down. It almost seems counter productive. I can imagine as it stands the queue will be double that than what shockwave was on it’s busier day. That being said it’s certainly is amazing experience if your able to get on it. A much more enjoyable ride with some unexpected forces.

Great video even if it didint go to plan. Its such a shame i loved drayton growing up they just seem to be doing things odd with the wave and the new coaster considering its the new year of the coaster

I was lucky enough to ride it seven times yesterday and it is generally a massive improvement, it is a better ride experience but it doesn't have the uniqueness of being stand up the brakes are less harsh and they don't slam to a stop either. the trains are very comfortable but the staff have to put it down halfway then come back for some reason the best seat is on the right side of the row, the further to the back the better, it is also very smooth and the billboard is much closer than you would think the zero g roll on the right seat is insane!

We went today and it was broken and had been closed previous days. We waited until 2 for it to reopen. They seemingly have restraint issues.

Still….. I’ve heard it’s back open tomorrow but the cheap option is very quickly biting them in the ass

@LiftHillsandThrills yes. Very much so. The restraints seem to be a massive issue. And the air gates were open before anyone arrived into the station, as were there as it reopened. So that was strange. They just held everyone behind the rope. The train had a least a 5 minute delay before each send out. Sorting restraints. They should do an announcement as you cue. To let the restraints come down alone. Not going for well for them at the minute really. Should have just done a total upgrade. And kept it standing!

Stayed there a couple of months back for two days and The Wave was closed the entire time due to maintenance issues. Stormforce 10 was also closed both days too. Then went to go on the river rapids and this was just as the park was opening. The guy comes out and casually announces that it won’t be open to about lunchtime as “they’d only just turned the pumps on” Well how about you get out of bed a bit earlier and sort it out? People pay a lot of money to go and it’s unacceptable to have so many rides not working.

It's pretty poor they didn't even bother to jet wash the track in the 5 months the ride has been closed. Honestly what was the point of putting up new themed signs when the track looks like that.

It's only been open for a few days... surely testing should pick these issues up before they open the ride?! Going to DM for the first time in mid July, are you hearing any whispers about a potential opening date for 'Gold Rush'?

Another vlogger reported that the back row was out of action a day or so ago because the lap bars, apparently, “weren’t working”. He also said that the ride crew were adamant that only they should handle the lap bars when securing the riders. Not sure who told him that, but if there’s a problem on *one row* with the lap bars that makes the seats unuseable…

Power issues, they've known about them for the last few weeks. Admitted it can only run a few cycles before throwing faults. Really disappointed we made the trip.

Gone without a trace after the EFL weren’t allowing footage to be captured of the games. Cut the losses and stopped 😃 will have to go through the EFL / club and I don’t fancy bending over to anyone to produce content

It hasn't just been renamed Heather, the ride has been retimed and the trains are brand new from a different manufacturer hence why it has been marketed as a new ride. The experience isn't a stand up rollercoaster anymore it's now a sit-down experience and has been remarketed as a new ride.

Sorry but 1. They've re-named, got a new train and rethemed but the track looks very dirty and unclean 2. A new train isn't going to extend the life that long, that track is over 30 years old and I can't see it lasting much longer 3. Why on earth are you going through a billboard while surfing and they've clearly just taken the idea from Merlin and made it worse by just cutting a corner out instead of putting in any effort to make it look as if the train has burst through the middle of it like the swarm or MFS. 4. That train is possibly the ugliest train on any coaster including kiddie coasters. That's my grumbling streak over!

1. They've done nothing to the track 2. Agreed 3. It's not great but they've added theming so.... I can't complain there 4. It's basically what I imagine one of Bumblebee's (Transformers) bogies would look like

@@LiftHillsandThrills Agreed, to be honest, that train from ART engineering won't have cost that much in the grand scheme of things so I think it'll only last 5 years max. They've added theming on the facade and the rest is just lousy/non existent. With frontier falls, I would've expected more but apparently not. The Wave has an awful layout with stupidly long sections of straight track and I think that the old trains were at the end of their service life, With the new coaster, they don't have the budget to remove it and replace it and they didn't just want an empty spot hence the cheap train and half-hearted theming!

in my opinion they made a bigggg mistake going with a cheap manufacturer. cheap crappy trains. track is dirty. im sorry but i can see drayton goin back down hill soon the new ride needs to above and beyond now to save them

It does need to be a big step up, sounds like they were down numbers wise last year so hoping this new ride helps them but The Wave decision is a strange one and train issues (as told to us by staff) already… not reassuring
