Okay I think a came up with a pretty good storyline for this. Dream’s friends (for unknown reasons) have all turned him away. This causes Dream to go into a depressed state. So, he begins to imagine him taking revenge on them. But he doesn’t actually want to do it. But, a part of him does: Nightmare. And that part of him becomes so strong that it basically becomes a second personality of Dream. So Sleepwalking happens in Dream’s head, and what it is is Nightmare trying to take over Dream’s body, with which he is successful. Then Night mare goes on to what Dream wouldn’t: have his revenge. But once Nightmare becomes a real thing, he made a device that keeps him in control, his spear. That’s why Technoblade had to destroy it to separate Dream and Nightmare. But doing so wouldn’t just separate them, it would make Nightmare a completely different organism. But he was still connected to Dream, so killing him killed Dream as well. But unfortunately for Dream, Nightmare had a plan to torture Dream in case this happened. The grey Dream we see throughout the videos is not Dream’s current personality, which is fighting Nightmare’s control over his body the entire time. Grey Dream is instead Dream after he has died, who has been forced to eternally watch him get what he wanted: revenge on his friends. Mic drop!!!

I think the saddest part of the ending is that if Techno had turned around he would have seen Dream's spirit peacefully floating through the grass, but he didn't.

In this series, everyone, who Nightmare fought has some powerful abilities. Dream has ability to charge energy in his arm, to deal lots of damage. Sapnap has ability to focus on energy in him, to power himself up and to feel some powerful attacks beforehand. Badboyhalo has ability to consume energy, and then to use it as energy source. And last, but not least, techno has ability to, using his trident, get soul energy of destroyed objects and then, give it to other objects.

I like that it kind of seems like Bad and Sapnap are from the Minecraft manhunt series, and when the get teleported somewhere to fight him it was kind of an everyday thing. The fights were never lethal, just something that they did normally. But with Nightmare possessing Dream, Dream was way too powerful for either Sapnap or Bad to kill him especially since Sapnap and Bad weren't aiming to kill, and Nightmare was. When Nightmare killed them, and used their deaths to power him further. When he got to Technoblade, the photo gave Dream enough power to temporarily overpower Nightmare, and told Techno how to defeat Nightmare by destroying Nightmare's source of power, the red scepter. Once the scepter was destroyed, Dream used all of his power he had left to destroy Nightmare forever. Doing that used up every bit of power Dream had though, chasing him to die once Nightmare had been defeated. I loved this series so much, and I think it bas an amazing ark!

The reason that techno only has one part of the song to fight nightmare is bc in every other fight they didn't use everything they had until after they lost the first half. Technoblade is not one to hold back, and dream was done with it and gave it everything so they got 1 song.

This is my plot for this series: Dream lost the final manhunt against his friends and it has caused him to be depressed. Then Nightmare appears and wants to help Dream get revenge on the hunters, but Dream refuses because they were still his friends and he thinks it’s not worth killing. However, Nightmare would not accept Dream’s decline and corrupts Dream to kill the hunters himself. He manages to kill Sapnap and BBH, and he tries to kill Dream’s rival: Technoblade. Technoblade heard about Nightmare’s plan and tries to stop him. While fighting Nightmare, Dream tells Techno his weakness which was to destroy Nightmare’s weapon. Techno snaps Nightmare’s weapon and releases Dream out of Nightmare’s trance. And in a sacrifice, Dream kills Nightmare to spare Technoblade’s life.
