@@gordaro2828 that was a little bit of a squeeze. This boat has a hard prop-walk to port…sometimes that helps…other times, not so much. lol

Looks like you are circumnavigating Salt Spring with Fulford more on the east side. Impressive water pressure with that "spring". Good thing is wasn't a SALT SPRING! After where you've been, these "out of the way" places (Maple Bay, Burgoyne, Salt Spring Island), going to Sidney has to be a bit of a culture shock! Now you're dealing with a real city. Bigger even than Steveston? Anyway, following along. I've got Swartz Bay and now I've got Canoe Cove Marina. Congratulations! D-40 and "home".

Hi again John! Beautiful scenery! I like your contemplations about life and I share your stance on our one chance to make most of life. Despite these wise insights, sometimes one has to do things that are not that inspiring. I’m currently working on my old teak deck, and the job is truly taxing. I’ve never gone through such demanding boat work. But it’s for a good cause. One day the deck will be in much better condition, and I hope to spend many great years with a trouble free, non leaking and beautiful deck. I’m filming and will eventually put out a video of it all, but editing is currently not my priority 😅. Best of luck on your journey and best regards, Christofer. By the way, I can also relate to your emotions regarding a farm. There’s something peaceful and very natural about a farm. Nonetheless, it’s not really compatible with a life at sea.

Inadequate scope, not enough anchor, not setting the anchor and chafe are contributors to boats dragging or loosing anchors. Good idea to use a snubber to reduce chafe on your rode.

I really enjoyed this one John, and have always had a soft spot for old graveyards. There’s one in Geneva that I hope to see again. I have been meaning to send you a link for a song that is a good lesson, and reminds me of your new life, though i didn’t know the “old” one. “Wisdom, it’s locked up from those who hurry ahead”. I will send you a link to the video on Patreon or WhatsApp. It’s good to be back home enjoying your videos again.

Hi John, Your outboard bracket. Usually you will want this bracket to be installed at a "T" where the horizontal tube meets a vertical one. I am sure you see the logic in this. Actually, well everyone has their definition I guess because it is all so old. But, the rod is to my understanding the scope you have between your anchor and the solid point it is secure to on your boat. So the rode can be all chain or chain and anchor line. I try to avoid active pass, it is long and strong. Parlier pas is much easier.
@JohnSchneidersWildLife
@JohnSchneidersWildLife 2 ай бұрын
Porlier Pass is pretty short isn’t it. Way out of the way to get to Point Roberts though. We’ll see. Some new developments here. I may be staying here in Canoe Cove as a home base for awhile. We’ve been on the wait list here for about six months and something has come available suddenly.

Give Ferries the room you can and if you are not sure, radio them and state you intentions and ask if that is agreeable to them. I don't believe they get mad, but that horn is not something you will be able to ignore if the ferry capatin feels you need to be reminded that they are there! Great you are moving about, gotta get out there to get the experience, which helps with the knowledge, all of which I know you know. Very disappointed that I am not out there too, seems my sailing the PNW dreams are not going to be fullfilled after all, so I will have to follow yours instead.
