aesndro70 yes, every time Anglos get into some foreign culture they have this unique talent for ruining it all by stereotyping everything, turning into a cliche... It is so grating...And then they try to tell the locals what their culture ought to be ie their stereotyped, foreigners manufactured culture that sells well abroad. Instead of what the true local traditional culture really is. Yes, I hear you... And, here in multicultural Australia, all the various people from other countries say they do this to their cultures, too. And it grates on nerves, because what this stereotyping really does is to replace the true authentic culture with this fake, manufactured stereotype, made by foreigners, to suit their tastes. How rude and offensive! Thus, unless it's Zorba the Greek, played Anglo style, it's not considered truly Greek. If the food is not pizza,or pasta, it's not considered fair dinkum Italian. Never mind that many Italians never eat either pizza or pasta, especially up north, where rice is grown and risotto is eaten and who would be such a peasant as to think pizza is a serious dish. It's about the equivalent of the cheapest pie with sauce from an Aussie second rate take away joint. An Asian chef here, an excellent one complained bitterly to me about how he went great trouble to prepare a REAL Chinese meal for Aussies, who refused to eat it because it was not their idea of Chinese food ie Australianised Chinese food. They wreck everything!
