Mike Mangini's *composition and performance* of The Alien is what pushed this track into Dream Theater's *first* grammy. This cover is freaking incredible, and does Mangini _proper_ justice. I'm so glad this amazing tribute to him came out *now* ..because Mike Mangini needs to know that his contributions will always be so very appreciated by his fans. Thanks for this❣

I think both are just matter of mixing, I mean wether its zildjian or sabian, tama or pearl, it only make slight different compare than audio mixing

Mangini's kit on AVFTTOTW sounds incredible, don't know what you're on about. I'd honestly only say his kit sounds bad on the self titled and on the astonishing

Best cover of that song on KZfaq. As a guitarist I’m captivated by watching Mangini play drums, he’s taught me more about rhythm and timing than anyone. I seems drumming to his songs requires constant counting in your head it must have been exhausting for him playing gigs mentally. You nailing this gained you a subscribe, well done. 👍

I loved MM as a drummer and as a dude - but my big issue with him is that he *never* talked about the MUSIC. He would always go on about the NUMBERS. I never once heard him say anything like " This song was asking for a big fat swing feel " no it was always more like " This song is in 7 so Im playing 3 over here 4 over there yadda yadda " . He could obviously play for the song and groove but FGS he uploaded a 10 minute youtube video explaining the literally half a second fill that opens this song 😆...
