amazing, mangini's drums sound so much more human now compared to the last albums. always sounded great live but never in the studio recordings

Seriously? How about the atrocious mastering? Probably you don't know or remember what a good sounding track is, like 6:00 from Awake. I'm disappointed, the song is REALLY good but unlistenable, this is NOT how to make prog sounding great!

@@Cloudheaven 6.00 is fine. I was comparing this track's mixing to ADTOE, DT12 and Astonishing where it wasn't that good. Plastic clicky drums. Inaudible bass. The mastering quality however will only be heard once it's released this coming feb. If you ask me, the best mix and master would be SFAM.

@@radiantaudio944 Well, unfortunately the mastering quality is this since I listened the official song through Tidal hifi in FLAC, I don't think they'll change the mastering for this song since is already out! Anyway the mix is not bad at all, but I don't understand why the had mastered this song (and probably the entire album) so bad! Dynamics squashed to the brickwall (I can distinctly hear the clicks), (little) distortion in cymbals and crash, kick has no life, vocals are meaningless and so on, this is a cheap master for a top40 pop radio, not one of the best prog band ever existed. This is a trend that has to stop.

My appreciation for this song increased when I heard it live. Petrucci’s tone sounded huge. Especially that ending riff, it sounded like a T-rex coming from the stage. Awesome.

mix is great, drums are great, guitar tone is great, solo tone is way brighter than the previous albums (finally) although labrie's vocals are a bit quiet. cant wait for the rest of the album.

Great song! Petrucci is a genius and labrie got it right. Dont like how the vocals are too blured. Labrie sounds better when he is in the front

The Original Parts sound pretty good though (especially 2:35) and that keyboard organ solo might be enough to put this song on my playlist.

Bruno Gomes it has literally zero relationship with Images and Words, and maybe just a little bit of train of thought in a couple of seconds. This song is mostly Outcry with a DT12 structure and sound, adding up a couple of rip offs from Haken’s Nocturnal Conspiracy.

Everyone is surprised by their similarity to Outcry, as if you were not aware that DT always does that. It's the essence, taking parts of other tracks, is what characterizes them.

if that is a TRUE sentence...welcome to Progessive Metal...but you missed the GOOD times of this Band :DYes...it sounds nice and so on but...misses the ideas...best imo was "six degrees of inner turbulence" if you ever can hear it...but only my rant ;)(...it was an Album I dreamed of as a child with every note played only to see it coming up 20 yrs later...)

That is a good one from a long time. Good mixing and Mangini got a sound now. At some point, I feel like a mix between "Home" and "In the Name of God". Like the 3:26 part. Big fan of DT, but still there's something missing. Metal fits on DT, don't get me wrong... but for several albums they still make this sort of pop prog metal, maybe it's time to do something fresh and new. DT is one of my favorite group because of the varieties they offered: prog, experimental, rock, orchestral, metal, jazz, etc. Hope this album will have more varieties.
