So, if "BE" is the Hanja character that means "sadness", and we consider "cause" as a noun, that would make the meaning of this song's title as "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to loosely mean "the cause of sadness is I like you" (or in simpler words, "The reason I'm sad is because I like you). That's very deep & profound. Or maybe I'm just over-analyzing things...?

because has been my favourite dreamcatcher song since it was released, but today i found out it's inspired by the movie US and my mind is blown.... i've seen the movie but i never made the connection or noticed how the girls had doppelgangers in the video lol i feel pretty silly. the line "its fine if you reject me, my other voice will call for you instead" is so creepy now, also gahyeon being jiu's mirror image that strangles her. also something not related to US is the BE in BEcause sounds like 悲 which is a chinese character meaning sadness, so the reason the girls are putting on the mask to deceive and seduce their object of attention is all because of sadness, which is super deep cos people with attachment issues from childhood may become toxic to seek attention in their adult life (kinda related to US tho since the main character did deceive her doppelgangers parents and her future husband) anyway i thought i'd share this since its changed how i view the song and i hope anyone who also doesn't know can find this :)

My theory: as seen in the end of choreography all girls are standing in line with Gahyeon in the middle, they're standing opposite to their hair colors (Yoohyeon-Handong, Jiu-Dami, Sua-Siyeon) i think the girls are teared into 2 parts (normal and shadow) and Gahyeon is the only one that managed to escape this so she doesn't have a doppelganger (idk if I said it right) Edit 1: at the beginning we can see gahyeon and Jiu reflecting each other, then suddenly Gahyeon grabs Jiu neck to probably k*** her, bc she knows that Jiu is a doppelganger, then at the hotel scene we see gahyeon smiling then it suddenly drops which can mean she's trying to blend in with doppelgangers in order to destroy them from the inside. Edit2: scene with handong standing while the half of her body is laying behind the courtain (propably de*d)can mean that she is an doppelganger and she have slayed her other (normal) half.

This song is about a love that turns into a terrible obsession. BEcause = BE(stand alone) in hanja(using chinese traditional alphabet) means Sad/Sadness BE+cause = Because sadness. Or we can translate it "I'm sad because I like you/love you" Or "Because I like you/love you, make me sad". At first he/she starts to control his/her lover(when you look at me, smile, smile), but he/she is not satisfied and the love turns abusive. Even though his/her lover became very frightened (you turn blue, blue, your face is like ocean view) and cried, he/she thought it is beautiful like a shining star(your eyes full of stars, my serenade). She/he want to hear the lover saying 'I love you' but they never say it back(answer me, hurry. I gave you a lot of chance). But he/she is not satisfied, if his/her lover does not want to be with him/her or love her/him back, then no one can have him/her. He/she chooses to kill the lover(referring the choreo strangled themself) because then they stay together forever(will you remain by my side in this state forever. Like a beautiful picture). He/she realized he/she had killed his/her lover, so he/she had to clean up the blood/the crime scene before it was too late/the blood hardened. This was the first Dreamcatcher MV I ever saw. Now that I know all their names, after a few weeks of falling into the rabbit hole, this was my first impression of them: Gahyeon - This girl scares me. She looks like she eats hearts for breakfast. JiU - I bet she's not as innocent as she looks. Handong - Beautiful voice! Yoohyeon - Wait, is that the same girl? Can't be, she just sat down in the background... no matter, she's beautiful. SuA - Oohh, she can move! Dami - If I didn't already love this song, I love it now, please give me more! That voice, that grace! Syeon - Yes, I can recognize her, even with the different hair! She looks dangerous though. And really cool. Gahyeon still scares me XD

My Theory : (this doesn't revolve around the nightmare era or the movie "US" which this MV was inspired, i will focus on the symbolism on the MV from the Lyrics) It's about someone who is obsessed on someone and forcing them to love them back, what i mean by force is literally doing anything even if it's an act of psychopathy, in the first verse (JiU and Handong) "I've been disguising myself, You don't know me well yet, People may think I'm good But they don't know who I truly am " means they show a different facade/persona to hide the real them (symbolized by Sua's mask) which is Obsessive and a Psychopath or a yandere. for example on 0:13 and Gahyeon's line "Smile when you see me, smile at me ,It's just the two of us in this dark room. If you play with me today, I'll give you something sweeter tomorrow" indicates she kidnapped the person they're obsessed with, which is symbolized on the place where Siyeon(1:26) and Sua(1:34). and also Gahyeon's facial expression on 0:25 looks like she's indeed a psycho On the chorus "Stars filling up my eyes . My serenade ,With an angelic face, say "I love you" Becausе I love you" shows mandatory of saying i love you. on the post chorus "Forever mine (Whoa-oh) Everything, even your breath Forever mine" which them claiming the person theirs. and they're treating them like a doll (like handong's doll) PLOT TWIST! The circus symbolizes the mind of the obsessed person. and all the mirror symbolises their other self. she isn't really a yandere, she has an alter meaning she has a Split personality disorder and the other alter which is the yandere is taking over her consciousness and making her do things she doesn't want to. these clips shows their yandere and their real selves: 0:08 (the yandere one is taking over the normal self),0:45 (shows the normal JiU then the yandere one),0:58, 1:52(Gahyeon lost herself). and the real them wandering around is finding a way to take over the yandere on controlling their body, which they succeed and they said on the bridge "It's okay to reject my other voice. I'll call you instead . As it is now, Would you stay by my side?" Fun fact: The Melody you're looking for is written by Beethoven, titled "Fur Elise" and is one of the most well-known pieces of piano music in the world as anyone who learns classical piano must have stumbled upon this gem. The song is said to be written for the woman Beethoven loved, and he wanted her to dance to this melody. Thus, you may have heard it from your music box (you know, that has a dancing ballerina when it opens). For anyone who is not understanding what’s going on I’ll explain. If any of you have seen the “US” movie the video is in reference to that except in Dreamcatcher’s version their doppelgängers actually won and were able to trap the real members inside and he circus(which is why they are wearing different clothes, Jiu smiles at the end and you hear Gahyeon laughing) Remember in the movie Lupita trapped her real self in the circus when she was young and the doppelgänger was living a normal life while the real one suffered and it made her crazy. In the video Gahyeon is supposed to be Lupita except the Gahyeon at the start of the video was the doppelgänger that had been living a normal life the real Gahyeon(who is evil) is wearing the white dress she and the other doppelgängers come up with a plan to trap the other girl’s(real members and Gahyeon’s doppelgänger) and break free which they ultimately did in the end. This is just my take on it but since the video is inspired by the movie and we had to guess it who was the doppelgänger among the members in the beginning I’m guessing it’s Gahyeon unless it’s a trick and it’s SuA she’s been suspicious(with the apple scene) too but that’s what I got from the video. Also the beginning with the cage Gahyeon(doppelgänger) used to be caged and got freed along time ago when she trapped the real one in the circus. P.S I could be wrong but that’s my take on it feel free to add any thoughts.

The main goal of this comeback was reaching a wider audience with a more summer themed sound, AND HOLY HELL NEARLY 6 MILLION VIEWS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS?! On the road to 7M? SO earned and deserved!

I know I already wrote a comment appreciating the pause between "BE" and "cause" but the effect a brief moment of silence can have is so powerful and I have to once again appreciate how this was used in Red Sun as well. Not to mention the quieter, almost haunting, melodic parts of BEcause contrasted with the belts and guitar riffs in the chorus, and same with Yoohyeon's ad-libs over SuA's spoken rap. I love those things so much.

wish they had more creepy songs and MVs, Chase Me era was soooo good, made them stand out from a pile of cute pink lovey dovey kpop girl groups. I understand going more mainstream means more views and it's a business so of course they'd want to take that path, but dark witchy powerful Dreamcatcher will always be my favorite.

And this is why Dreamcatcher is excellent. They are so criminally underrated. Their songs are really catchy and contain both magnificent vocals and sick raps. Their lyrics are always meaningful and rich of sense, full of parallels and tributes, it's always a great thing to look up the translations. Finally, their mvs; they are always so high quality. They are stunning and spectacular, attractive, addictively weird and spooky and so dark. The type of concept you don't see much and that's 1 thing more that makes them special. They deserve so much more. The girls also look frickin good omg ;-;

Things that keep obsessing me after dozens views: - that camera movement at the start, all in a single shot; - the facial expressions of Gahyeon; - every single time JiU does a face (but mainly the "BE" in the first chorus and the last smile); - the black dress of SuA, she is drop dead gorgeous in that; - all the mirroring effects edited in the video; - Dami's attitude and delivery, one of the best of hers imho; - the head oscillation in the chorus' choreo; - Siyeon's zebra Cruella; - the fact that Handong seems so expensive in every single shot; - Yoohyeon's vocal flex and flowers hairstyle. But I must confess, I have shiver every time I hear the last part of the bridge... Sua and Yoohyeon voices are simply heavenly perfect there.

Love the outfits they look gorgerous and the visuals are stunning. Love the girlpower vibe of Dreamcatcher's songs and the positive energy they have they're real sunshines and very talented. Dreamcatcher's love for eachother, fans and music shows in everything they do they're just the sweetest and easily the best girlgroup ever. Love these girls forever and always. Jiu, Gahyeon, Handong and Yoohyeon are my favourites here but they're all truly perfect.

Did you all notice their stage outfits have a small pocket at the back for their microphones to be put on, because in what I remembered the girls always have troubles with their microphones falling in live stages.
