Want this kind of music to stick around and also become more mainstream? Please stop emphasizing “80’s Nostalgia!” “Nostalgia” is a longing for the past. What you probably want is to return good things from the past to now, and carry them into the future. If you always conceive of this music as “from the past,” it won’t persist into the future. This music is nostalgic, and the 80’s were cool-but synthwave is more than merely nostalgia. Isn’t it better to revive the good parts of the 80’s for the future, rather than keeping it as a longing in the past? If you agree, then please spread this message.
