Alright, for anyone who thinks death is not a villain and is just doing his job, I’ll give a little explanation: By dictionary definition a villain is: “(in a film, novel, or play) a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot.” Looking at the movie after learning this information we see that we have two main “bad guys” in the movie, Jack Horner and Death But which were we introduced to first? Death Also looking at the entire movie we see that the only reason everything took place was because of death, If death decided to not hunt down puss, Puss would have most likely gone on to die in battle, as he would never retire, go to mama Luna’s, meet the three bears and learn about the wishing Star, and then journey to the wishing Star. Death is the only reason the entire movie happened Which by definition makes him the main antagonist. Now there are two types of main antagonist, bad guy and villain. The difference between the two is that a bad guy has everything done for them and has trouble beating the protagonist for stupid reasons, while a villain does everything just because they can, to get a kick out of it, no remorse for who they hurt or what they do, they only lose to the protagonist because the protagonist grows, changes, gets better about themselves.

The bad guy/villain thing is both an arbitrary breakdown and a false dichotomy. The definition of villain requires evil. Death isn't evil.

He holds himself with great self-respect, and when he talks to you, he feels dangerous. He might not be the strongest, but he is unnerving in how he seems like he has already won. In the opposite, that Snow Leopard jokes with his opponents, mocks them, but also shows respect to them. He is also introduced after he has already been defeated once, so you know he can be defeated. Yes, we all know the bad guy loses in the end in these stories, if Tai Lung had only been repelled and was waiting for the chance to strike again, he would be a lot more threatening. He was shown to have been defeated once already, which takes away the "hiding in the shadows" vibe.

Shen is someone who is unmotivated because he knows how much in the wrong he has been his whole life, he knows how far beyond redemption he is and that turning back will just mean all the lives he's taken will go in vain. Shen takes no pleasure in killing, in fact the film shows that he doesn't resort to it unless if it's unavoidable. It's only the second act when he lets his madness consume him for good until again in the absolute final scene where he confronts Po.

No. But he doesnt care who dies and he appears to take great pleasure killing the old master at the palace. I think we are both right to some regard here, but I personaly think shen has no conscience. Fits better with the movie in my opinion.

@@JONATHANJONESVII the writers of KFP2 said Shen doesn't want to kill anymore but he's got no choice left in his own conscience. Shen kills Rhino but lets Ox and Croc even though they could very well become a problem in the coming future. Rhino was too powerful for Shen to fight so he had to eliminate him.

Not really. Most of the 'bad guys' of DreamWorks are shown to be bad (or at least show big red flags)from the beginning/ fair early on in their appearance in the movie, with it being revealed to the heroes later. While twist villains are only revealed to everyone at the end to be behind everything all along.

@@cloudshifter I'd argue that the HTTYD series was absolutely phenomenal. For personal preferences, I'd choose HTTYD over KFP but in reality they're really on par. KFP has such an amazing trilogy and compelling villains, and HTTYD has a fantastic storyline and the soundtrack is just incredible. Dreamworks has literally the best animated movies.

He's definitely a comedy take on the no heart and unreasonable type of villain. Death is their take on a force of nature type of villain, an "inevitable" type of villain if you will. Shen is their take on real life villains, the people who aren't empty inside, they're just full of evil and real hate. They're the type who commit genocides like shen did. Tai Lung is their take on vengeful, prideful villainy.

Shen had one of the coldest villain Intros ever. He walks up, murders 6 dudes off the rip. Beats master croc and master bull's *asses* and then blows master rhino to smithereens with his cannon. Tai Lung too.

Shen is just too good of a villain, his design is absolutely a S+ tier, a albino peacock with red spots, his intelligence and skill also made him even more badass, and he felt like a real villain not a made up one with powers, but a real person who was simply a tyrant

Tai Lung is hands down one of if not the coolest villain to appear in a kids movie. His action scenes were badass as hell, plus his voice actor was great, delivered everything each line so well. I love how everytime he was in a fight, he'd yell and grunt with each strike. Really sold how much anger he harbored imo

Death is sort of considered a villain. He’d be an antagonist if he were simply doing his job, however he made things personal against puss and actively sought him out even in moments puss wasn’t about to die, thus he is a villain and a crazy good one at that.

@@jitendrapawaskar3791Eh, he’s not actually doing his job at all in The Last Wish, something to remember is that Puss is still alive (something the cat himself says) and that Death has decided to kill Puss personally since he’s wasted all of his other lives But that’s not what Death is supposed to do, he’s supposed to wait for each soul to die, no matter how frivolous they were with their life, or lives in Puss’ case
