Its not just music, games and art also. There was a Holdfast Nations at war video, where people were blasting german music, from both ww1 and ww2 through voice chat for the fun, and youtube deleted the vid with more than 2 mil views, and the uploader had to make a very cut, "family friendly" version that had most of the good jokes cut out. Tough he uploaded the original to pornhub :D

I own this album. The text to the songs are on the back of the album . I do speak German. I used to put the record on and sing along at the top of my lungs. It is also a good way to learn German painlessly! After 30 years, I can still sing along without the text before me. Also, many of the songs are not strictly military, but are general folks " Wanderlieder", or songs that were written to be sung when out hiking.

I come from the Channel Islands, we were occupied by the Germans Jun 30, 1940 - May 9, 1945, in fact one of my great uncles was taken away by the Germans. Nonetheless, there was a couple albums of Germen marching in my Dad's collection. Listening to this reminds me of Sunday mornings growing up. Thanks for posting.

THERE IS NOTHING like being young, fit, marching perfectly and bellowing out marching tunes in perfect voice with scores of your comrades. It makes you feel as though the sun is bursting upon every cell in your body! You feel handsome, strong, and ready for anything! Civilians stare at you in disbelief and admiration. It's a feeling I will never forget.

Lived in Weinheim-Bergstrasse and couldn't reconcile the stories from WW2 with the honourable loving people I lived with for years. Sadly the war-generation are gone now and have been replaced by a self-loathing generation of replacements. Far from perfect, historical Germans rank as the pinnacle of humanity at its moral best only to be in the crosshairs of those who would have us reduced to ignorance poverty servitude and moral decay.... forever. These songs represent an element of German cultural achievement at it's best.
