Do you experience having the multi chuck getting stuck? I had quite a number of instances wherein after using the tool, I can't unscrew / loosen the multi chuck. I think that the multi chuck gets tighter as the tool spins, and when Im finished, the force needed to unscrew the multi chuck exceeds the force I can apply to the shaft lock button. So what I end up doing is to grip the shaft lock button and the whole Dremel body with a channel-lock pliers, then I can wrench the multi chuck loose. As a result, the rubberized part of my Dremel's body is pretty banged-up due to the use of pliers to hold the shaft button with more force. Any insights?

Honestly, I've never had a problem with any of them. But I am careful not to over tighten them, usually finger tight is enough for simple polishing. Thanks for watching. Dave

I got so frustrated with my Dremel bits wobbling like crazy. I thought maybe my tool was defective. However, I forgot about the Collets I had. I took off my miltichuck and put in the collet and the wobbling is gone. Maybe my multichuck is defective, I don't know, but for a round bit, going into a round collet, it seems to be much better than having 3 tiny pressure points on a round bit. I will assume that if you have a triangle shaped bit, that a 3 point multichuck would probably be best. It's took bad I drilled like 300 holes after realizing the grip of the multichuck on round things, sucks.
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience, It could be that your bit wasn't properly centred in the 3 jaw chuck. However if the chuck makes "all" of your bits wobbles, then perhaps there is an issue with it. I agree that for tough jobs the collet is probably a stronger grip - As long as the bits are the correct size. But the multi chuck offers flexibility. Personally I have never had an issue with any of mine and i use a multi chick daily on my Dremel micro. Thanks for watching.

@@CelticDreamsCoUk well, i hadn't used it for a week and went i went to use it, it was wobbling. I don't know if it got bumped enough to knock it off center or if it's possible my Dremel 200 is just defective. I've seen where I can take it apart and wrap extra material around 2 things inside the tool, to try to make it fit tighter, which may help. I might try that.

My dremel has gotten jammed with an accessory inside of it! I can't get the chuck to turn at all once I press the lock button in. I'm afraid some material may have gotten in it and mucked it up. Have you got any recommendations?
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 6 жыл бұрын
Try gently tapping the end of the accessory with a small hammer, to try and loosen everything. Also stand the Dremel accessory pointing up and try get a few drops of oil like WD40 to drip down the shaft into the chuck. use a spanner on the bottom of the nut, but if that's not strong enough then you can use engineers pliers or a plumbers wrench, but first wrap some tape around the chuck to prevent it getting scratched. Hope this helps. good luck. Dave

Where the spanner slots on underneath the knurled section, is used to attach the chuck. So apply a spanner to that part, Unscrew the chuck in the opposite direction to normal rotation (turn the chuck the opposite way to the big arrow), whilst holding the lock button. Hope this makes sense and helps. Dave

Dave

On the Dremel multi tool chuck, how do you loosen the Chuck if it has been tightened too much? It's closed and when I attempt to open it, it unthreads from the Dremel. What am I missing?
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm a tricky one. You could try tightening it back onto the Dremel using the spanner, and then try to open it again. Also try a drop of oil on the jaws. You obviously need more friction between the nut and the dremel, and less between the nut and the jaws. Hope this helps. Dave

The Dremel Multi Chuck is a great timesaver when using different tools of many different shaft sizes. One problem I've seen with Dremel's Multi-Chuck is wobble. I have two multi chucks, and it appears the geometry of the internal mechanism on one is off. Maybe it's just a bad unit; the older version I have works much better. I've found that drilling small holes in metal with a hand-held Dremel unit produces messy holes, esp. if one has a wobbly chuck. There is a mini drill press model that is quite reasonably priced that delivers excellent results, so one doesn't have to struggle to produced precision holes with a Dremel too.
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 6 жыл бұрын
I've not had any issues with my multi chuck. I use tiny 0.5mm needled in it for sharpening. So its perfectly straight and precise. A wobbly one probably means it wasn't screwed on properly and is perhaps cross threaded. It shouldn't wobble. Dave
@kurtstory9466
@kurtstory9466 6 жыл бұрын
The chuck is *definitely not* cross-threaded. I do know enough about proper tool setup to not make that mistake. :) The wobble isn't huge, but it's enough to cause issues when trying to do very fine work with burs or bits. I have since bought myself a good jeweler's drill press that solves this issue completely. Cheers.

@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
if you are using the standard chuck with the collets then you've probably got an accessory which is too small for the chuck. You likely need a smaller collet. Dave
@kurtstory9466
@kurtstory9466 5 жыл бұрын
In case this helps--I checked my Dremel w/ multi-chuck. The chuck will firmly grip a 30 ga (0.25mm) wire, so if the jaws on yours aren't closing tightly...I would inspect it for debris preventing it closing properly. Sometimes these mult-chucks get jammed with dirt, and need to be cleaned periodically.

Correct. you can use a small spanner on either the nut or the chuck. Personally, I've never needed too. Dave

Celtic Dreams. Sorry about the spelling. I have had a chuck loose it's bit and go flying. (Only missed my head by about an inch) then a friend pointed out the flats near the bottom for a wrench. In defence of the tool I was working it to hard. Love the videos keep up the good work! 👍

My collet NUT is frozen. Any suggestions for breaking it free?
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 6 жыл бұрын
see if you can get any penetrating oil inside the nut, try a few drops of WD40 onto the end of the jaws and leave it standing up for a few minutes, then if you can, try to get between the nut and the Dremel with a few drops and leave it standing down. Ensure the spindle lock button is firmly pressed and use a spanner or pliers (with tape) to try and unscrew the nut. Mechanics often put a hot flame onto a nut to loosen it, obviously you don't want to do that here, but standing the nut (only) in some boiling water for a minute may help and also loosen any dirt that may be the problem. Hope this helps. Dave

CD - Thanks for a helpful video. I have the same problem with a frozen collet nut, but mine is rusted (got it a few years ago and this is my first attempt at using it).. I have tried WD40, penetrating oil, heating the nut with a lighter while running the Dremel (for hopefully even heating), and soaking in penetrating oil after heating. So far no luck. Any other ideas?

Do please comment individually, as oppose to on other peoples (it avoids them being spammed with someone else's feedback). But as above. if you can remove the nut and collet (stuck together). hold the nut (only) with pliers and tap end down onto a wooden surface. this will hopefully knock the stuck collet out. Dave

Nice pentagrame buddy?

A few people have mentioned that. Nothing sinister, it was simply a little star I cut out for a 50th birthday pendant. So I just drew it out on my bench peg to get the dimensions. see link Dave facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=Celticdreams.co.uk&set=a.1282167711873419

Blessed be, do you think this chuck will work on dremel 200 ? Are you Wiccan by the way ? I am eclectic Wiccan.
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
It should work fine with the 200. Pretty much any Dremel with a collet chuck. I wondered why you asked if I was a Wiccan. I'm not but I presume you saw the pentagram on my bench pin. I wondered if anyone would comment on that. I was actually making a small silver charm with a lucky star on it and wanted to get the geometry right, so drew it out neatly on my bench peg. Hence why there is a pentagram. No meaning, just a star shape. I do however sometimes place a square and compass deliberately on my bench (in some videos). The meaning of which I will leave you to ponder. Thanks for watching. Dave ; )

I press my lock button and when I try to open it the button pops up. Think I've over tightened it. How can I get it open? Please help!!
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 4 жыл бұрын
Obviousley th ebutt is what locks the spindle. So you need to keep the button pressed. Alternatively if you've got a tool in the chuck then try holding that with pliers whilst unscrewing the chuck with the spanner. Also lightly tap the tool (or the end of the jaws) with a light hammer to try and free any tension. hope this helps. Dave.

My nut will not come off. Nor will the little skinny dremel bit or collet. When I press the unlock button - it yet never opens up the hole it never widens it so I can’t get the piece that’s in it out

Try tapping the end (of the bit) on the desk to loosen the collet, which may have been overtightened and jammed in to the nut. Hope this makes sense. Dave
