In this video, we’re going to talk about what to do after a gallbladder removal surgery (cholecystectomy). If you’ve had your gallbladder removed or you’re considering having a cholecystectomy, this video is for you.
The gallbladder is an important organ that holds bile salts, concentrates bile (5X more potent), and regulates the release of bile into the digestive system.
When you eat, your gallbladder contracts and releases concentrated bile salts. Without a gallbladder, your bile is diluted and constantly trickles down into the small intestine.
Bile is created in your liver and stored in your gallbladder. When it’s released, it helps break down fat-soluble nutrients, including fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. This is why vitamin deficiencies can be associated with low bile and gallbladder issues.
The benefits of bile include:
1. Helps with fat-soluble vitamin absorption
2. Helps break down essential fatty acids
3. Helps prevent gallstones
4. Converts T4 to T3
5. Supports healthy blood sugar levels
6. Helps break down fat-soluble phytonutrients
7. Helps rid excess cholesterol
8. Helps eliminate toxins
9. Has an antipathogenic factor
10. Helps balance acidity by increasing alkalinity
Symptoms of a gallbladder problem:
1. Bloating
2. Burping/belching
3. Nausea
4. Right shoulder pain
5. Tightness underneath rib cage
6. Constipation
7. Gallstones and bile sludge
8. Cravings for fatty foods
9. Itchiness
10. High cholesterol
Potential cholecystectomy risks include:
• Injury to the bile ducts
• Bile leaks
• Injury to blood vessels
• Jaundice
• Infection
• Hernia
• Pancreatitis
• Injury to bowels or liver
• Blood clots
• Heart attack
• Death
• Continued symptoms
How to support your gallbladder and bile level:
1. Get on Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting
2. Take purified bile salts with meals
3. Try manual therapy/acupressure massage
4. Take TUDCA

This was very informative! Thank you so much for this video! Doctors removed mine when I was 22. Non functional. Have had problems ever since with no real help since. I just met with an amazing chiropractor that is teaching this and has helped me more in the first week, than I have had in my last 20+ years of suffering. This gave great insight. Explained in terms I understand!

Doctors found out my gallbladder is conctracted all the time and I have problems with digesting fats, no pain, all blood tests are ok and they wanted to remove it. No one told me why this thing can occur. Long story short I'm just bile deficient it seems, i begun to take bile salts and I can see results in less then a week! My doctors don't even know bile deficency is a thing... Thank you so much for videos like these! Greeting from Czech Republic :)

Most doctors are not nutritionists or dietitians. Which is ultimately sad because those two things would keep many people from coming to the doctor in the first place. Yet even if you tell people they are being unhealthy they often don't want to listen anyways until they are suffering. Prevention is key.

research the super 7 dirty genes and the dirty genes book. MTHFR and DAO variants are notorious for all the above. Dr Berg has not mentioned histamine resistance ( dirty DAO can cause histamine resistance) yet and how it impacts both digestive AND thyroid health. DAO is a different pathway that also hits digestive function.

Your comment is important. I do love his channel, BUT everyone is different. My gallbladder basically stopped doing its job for a year or so. Remember, if you have A TON of gallstones in your gallbladder, you’re already basically functioning without one. The only difference when you get it taken out is a direct flush of the fat, meaning afterwards you should improve your diet. Choose less fatty options. You don’t have to eliminate fat, just don’t have 50% of your food intake as fat, like keto. The Keto diet, and I say diet not lifestyle, is the WORST possible diet for someone with their gallbladder taken out.

I had my gall-bladder out years ago. I asked the surgeon why he couldn't just take out the stone and leave the bladder in place. He said something about 'might as well take the entire gall bladder to prevent further stones'... I said as it had taken 40 years or more for that stone to develop, I'd be happy to take my chances on another one in another 40 years, but he insisted on taking out the whole organ anyway. He was operating at a teaching hospital, and was proud to show off his 'skill' at keyhole surgery to students of surgery, so that was the method he used. I was in hospital only overnight... When I got home the next day, on TV news there was an article which informed me that a new report had shown that keyhole surgery for gall-bladder removal created a risk of dying of heart failure within 18 months which was 17.5 times (i.e. 1,750%) the risk when using the traditional surgical method. I've had trouble trusting the medical profession ever since... and that mistrust has been greatly magnified since the covid fiasco.

@@Von199X No, it's not like a balloon, which is under pressure. (I reckon you're comparing it to an inflated balloon, right?) So the sac would not explode the way a balloon would, and the hole could easily be stitched up just like any other surgical incision. No need for duct tape.

Wow, you never cease to amaze me with how understandable you make your videos. I understand WHY when taking the Body Type Test I came out as Thyroid. So I feel like I am a Liver/Thyroid mix body type. I had my gallbladder removed right after having a baby at age 35. This added stress to my body and I was unable to breastfeed. The pain was so unbearable that the doctor recommended surgery and I followed the recommendation. I guess I don't remember reading about all the side effects or I was in so much pain I just consented to it all. My mistake...obviously! However, upon seriously reviewing my past I can see the progression of all the small, and what seemed like insignificant, symptoms: weight gain, inability to lose weight, bad eating habits, then later diagnosis with Hypothyroid (but I refused meds) and diagnosed with HepC while I was pregnant with my last child at age 39yo. That doctor offered an abortion and interferon...I declined both! So, I'm creating a timeline of the history of my health and its progressive decay. (Oh brother) No, really, I'm reviewing the past to understand where and why I am where I am in my health, today. I'm also radically obsessing over Doctor Berg's videos and making serious changes to reverse and restore myself back to prime health. I just started the OMAD this week and I'm doing pretty well on it....so far feeling fantastic and listening to my body! Can't wait to feel the magical changes! Thanks, Doc!!! Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and doing it in a way that is simple to understand.

Thanks for this inormative video! I've been studying gallballders after having my own issues as I'm trying to keep mine. I'm no doctor! Two other possible complications I've noticed people complain about that they had to address after surgery are issues relating to sphincter of the oddi and celiac disease, not to mention life altering diarrhea. I found a message board for victims of gallbladder removal surgery where they post their devasting stories and it's really heartbreaking. I hate how some surgeons just tell people 'you don't really need it' and don't do enough IMO to really prepare people. I even found a woman who said she got pancreatitis in the hospital after surgery and she is now hospitalized a few times a year with it and it never went away. Thank you so much for hopefully helping people to better informed about ALL aspects. Some people have said they were lying in a hospital bed post-surgery STILL having gallbladder attacks. They don't tell you that stones can still form in bile ducts so the problem doesn't always go away!

This video is so freaking awesome and comprehensive. Thank you Dr. Berg. I’m sorry you suffered with things but it’s such a blessing to the rest of us that you have the personal experience that drives your knowledge. I so wish I had known years ago about keto and the dangers of mainstream medicine and the importance of nutrition. We’ve been mislead our whole lives about so many things. Out of all my education I remember learning about hormones in a sexual way and that’s pretty much it. It wasn’t until two years ago that I started digging and learning about all of our hormones which are so vital to us. I lost my gallbladder a long time ago and wish I would have known it wasn’t just useless, which I figured God didn’t just give us something useless, but I believed mainstream medicine at the time. At any rate, I’ve been suffering with some of the deficiency symptoms lately and just severe fatigue after being keto for a couple years and unable to figure out why and what I’m doing wrong. Also, stuck in about a 6-9 month plateau no matter what I do. After watching your videos on the gallbladder, I have a feeling my body isn’t getting the nutrients I’m trying to give it bc I don’t have a gallbladder anymore. Im about to get some bile salts and see if they make a difference for me. I heavily appreciate what you do. I feel like your videos are really to teach us something instead of just promote stuff. Actually most doctors do not recommend the Keto diet. The diet industry does. Basically process food is not good for our body especially inthe amounts American tend to eat them in. But who does not. But the fact that 50% of American are obese is basically nothing but people fault also. No one stops anyone from learning if you really want to learn somethink.. Who stopped you from learning Basics about a proper diet. No one stopped you from seeing a dietitians if you wanted to eat a better diet.. It is really not that hard and was something I learn about when I was 14 years old because I want to do better in my sport. My Mom also wanted to lose some weight.. so we went to the libery and then talked to a dietitian who help us come up with a plan geared toward our likes and lifestyle.. Basically I get sort of tired of people blaming doctor, pharma, society, McDonald's or whatever when someone did not bother to spend any quality time to get educated on a subject from reputable sources. For example looking at some actually book for dietitians or doctors. Back then you could find stuff at your local references section in you local library. Also medicine is always changing and sometime taking a organ is taken out because of complications that could happened if it stays in could be worse then removing the organ. But the bottom line unless you are unconscious no one forced you to have that organ taken out. I know every doctor see something a little bit differently and zi want to make sure zi am making choices that I feel comfortable with and not feel like something I was talked into. But again that is about watching out for yourself and just doing you due diligence. I am responsible for the choice I make, not others.. Again there are so many factors on where that line is on should surgery should be done or not. I am just amazed how many people will have a a doctor d surgery on them and they do not even check I they have any complaint against them in the state boards. I have had gallstones for years and there is really not that much you can do about them. But I was told 10 years ago that they could remove my gallstone and prevent a bunch of problem. Well I knew the gallstone has a purpose and I went to the library and did some research. Upon asking my doctor about the purpose of the surgery and the risk of surgery and long term effect and not having it, I choose to leave it since I was causing me no pain or issues. I still have my gallbladder and gallstone and have no pain or symptoms. Doctor also sort of go by the averages. They do not know exactly how well someone will do with anything until it happened. After my research, I basically eat little process food, my BMI weight and height normal healthy size. I am a disable Veteran so my exercise is sort of limited but again that would no be a excuse to be obese or not take care of the rest of my body the best I can. I find most American just eat trash, take horrible care of there body and then expect doctor to cure them with a pill or magic surgery. Doctor also do not have 3 hours to hold someone hand who does nothing the doctor does anyway.. Half the time I do not even know why people bother going to the doctor to begin with if they are no going to take there suggestion in improving there health.. No one stops you learning, but your lack of initiative entitlement that it is everyone job to teach you. Learn to stand up for yourself and get those questions asked and answered. When you go to the doctor he is there to help you and not the other way around. If you feel that your doctor does not want you input in your own body or seem insulted by questions you have, then find another doctor.

Started searching today for other solutions myself after talking to other doctors who wanted to do the same and my father last weekend. I'll keep you posted. I'm 6 hours into your vids while cross referencing. I was already pretty much keto by nature with the exception of my penchant for broccoli sprouts and mushroom cultivation (Maitake, Lionsmane and Oyster). Don't eat sugar. Not into carbs. Love fermented stuff (including beer, which is likely the source of my problem despite being skinny as a rail 140lbs, 5'10", 50 years on this rock). We shall see how the salts and lemon wheat grass and turmeric lattes go, I wanna reduce the swelling in the gall bladder and neck before I start a long fast. Already eat every other day, and it was suggested that skipping meals was the issue with my gallbladder by my doctor (fired already). I suspect I got into this situation from skipping meals and substituting Guinness for meals. Thanks to you I have a meal plan, what to shop for and not (which already mostly resembles my shopping list). Omg, this explains much more than the doctor did before surgery, I wish he'd advised me of all this. I would have gone down the liver function testing first and surgery would have been absolutely last understanding all that was involved. I was back in the ER within days and turned away. This has nee 24/7 and has kept me on my bed to relieve the previous and exhaserbated symptoms since surgery. I knew something vfc was terribly wrong. He said I did not need enzymes or bile salts and from your explanation I was already lacking bile so this seems it may have shut down all the bile. I went back and without testing he had me return in 6 months though I was in absolute daily agony. At 6onths I returned and he said nothing was wrong but I knew different. After a year he said to see someone else without any info or referral. He sold his private practice a few years later and joined a local clinic. My surgery was 2018 and I have struggled every day and night doubled over in pain and could not sleep or function. Thank you for this and all your videos that are so helpful and lead me in another direction.

About 6 years ago I had been having constant pain across the bottom of my rib cage. One day it became unbearable along with sharp pain in my right shoulder blade. I went to the ER and they diagnosed gallstones. It was a friday and they scheduled me for a follow up with primary care the following Monday. I spent the weekend learning what a gallbladder is. Thats when i found Dr. Berg. I've been learning ever since and implementing healthy eating changes, which has been a challenge. I found out I had non-alcoholic fatty liver from poor eating. Using the gallbladder formula and other supplements and adopting intermittent fasting helped. I'm leaning towards keto now. The pain, often severe, continued periodically over the years, getting much less frequent every year. I havent had any gallbladder related pain now for 10 months. The best part is that the pain alerted me to a problem and i was able to find information to help me implement changes. With a better understanding of my body and health I can make better choices. My primary care recommended removal of gallbladder. I refused. I dont know if that decision is right for anyone else, but it has worked for me.

I currently have dense sludge in my gallbladder and was made aware of this after going to the ER due to a gallstone clogging my bile duct. Fortunately it passed and my gallbladder wasn’t removed. They said it needs to be removed within a month. The nurse even told me “it’s just a bonus organ but we don’t need it” and I couldn’t stop thinking “there’s no way” it has to be greater than how they’re making it seem. Clearly it is! Thank you for this. I’m gonna try everything to keep my gallbladder

Went to ER bc of severe pain. Had CT scan, Sonogram, blood taken, lots of questions & pressing on my abdomen . After 5 hours, was told " You're ok" by the physician, I left, with the same pain & weakness. (Trusted the Dr. , He said I was " ok") Back to ER a few days later. Another CT scan. I had gallstones by then. Admitted Fri. night, no surgery until Wed. afternoon, with a drain & stayed overnight. A mean & nasty nurse in the "Recovery" room. Was told nothing re: diet/ nutrition, just a bill.. I appreciate your informational video!

This video contains all my research that I did in one year period and even more. You have no idea how usefull is this information. In my country (Lithuania) doctors don't consider any alternatives and recomendation of food and lifestyle before or after surgery it is tragedy I was left alone to figure thing out.... Because of you and other few infos I found ...it saved me from surgery. I am still experimenting but feelin alive again. I bought bile salts (there is non in my country and very few in eu...) and betaineHl. It helped me a lot with combining keto and close to fasting lifestyle. Still I have to avoid meats because if i eat it often it couses constipation. And that pain in my traps... oh... I could write all book how preaciuos and life saving is this information 💓 Going to your link to try out Tudca now. Thank you Doctor!

Why they remove Gallbladder ? Why can not they find some other solution for to clean your Gallbladder instead of removing it . Even Dentist they also are not doing good practice of Doctorate - e.g: When you go for teeth cap or crown and if it is not fitting well they will shave up your good above tooth - [ These is the kind of practice they do ] . Which means more problems for your good teeth as well. IT IS LIKE - If your one leg has prosthetic and if you have issues with it and if doctor is suggesting you that you cut or shave up your other good leg. Instead of working on to fix the prosthetic size. This is the world of Doctors who are giving you their wrong solution and keep you coming back to them . So that they can get their loans paid and become rich at cost of general public health - They will make you fall for their vicious cycle. OH HELLO Hello Can you do research on Gallbladder issues to find out a solution without removing it. So that these doctors "bread and butter surgery" of Gallbladder come to an END.

Knowing your inspiration in studying these issues is a personal one, helps us to trust your knowledge, and that you are not just regurgitating what you were taught with lack of sympathy for your audience/patients etc. Too late for myself and my husband (we are both post cholecystectomy and have issues as a result) but not for our posterity. I had my gallbladder removed 13 months ago. I didn't have a choice. I lived with gall stone flare ups as long as I could until gall bladder became too painful. However, Ive been in and out of the emergency room. Blood pressure soars, headaches, nausea, confusion. They thought cardiac problems, but it was having my gallbladder removed. I never had nausea even when I had a bout of vertigo. Now I'm having it all the time. The type of nausea that brings you to your knees. I have developed a severe skin rash 7 months ago which I had a hard time getting rid off even with strong meds. In addition I come from a Chiropractic family my ex, my daughter, Son in law, nephews, uncles to name a few. I am not one but Chiropractic comes first to prevent symptoms.
