As a person diagnosed with gerd at 23, I can confirm that there is lots of contradicting advice out there on this health condition. It's almost like we have to choose between stomach or throat cancer. I am seeing more and more people with gerd (that had gerd for a long time) agree with the Dr. In this video. Moving from an acid blocker to an acid producer. I also want to mention something that helped me immensely. My gerd is partially a result of untreated anxiety. Once I got a handle on my anxiety, majority of the symptoms went away. If you have gerd and are an anxious person/ over thinker. Please seek counseling, there might be a link there that most doctors miss. Lucky for me, mine struggled with the same issue and was able to assist accordingly. To my fellow gerd patients - Everything will be ok. You are just on a journey of listening to your body ❤

Slowly but surely my anxiety turned into health anxiety so here I am. Now that I’ve recognized it, I’m slowly starting to heal all over again, I thought I did it before but the anxiety crept back in a different form! I was told I have symptoms of GERD and was given ppi’s. I didn’t take them and am going to try to heal naturally. 🤞

This is false , if you have gerd, acid reflux, and the doctor prescribes you a proton pump inhibitor, that medication basically stops your stomach lining from making a lot of acid, then why do people feel instantly relieved?
@jefferytrapani9700
@jefferytrapani9700 6 ай бұрын
It is studied by them. They don't want it to go away. They want people on acid blockers for the rest of their life to make profit. Acid blockers were approved y the FDA with the understanding they would be prescribed for a few months due to the side effects. etc. But that is not what happened. Some people are on it for years because the drugs increase what caused the problem- low stomach acid. The doctors took "the wrong solution for the wrong problem" as he says in the video.

@@hasinamariyam1698 20 to 30 minutes before meal, one table spoon of organic apple cider vinegar with mother in a glass of warm water (around 300ml - sometimes I do 200, sometimes 400), with a touch of honey. I dip the end of the spoon in a honey jar and mix it in. Drink with a metal straw (or any other suitable straw preferably) not to touch affect your teeth too much (acid does affect teeth enamel). After drinking, rinse mouth with water on top of a sink couple of times to reduce acidity in your mouth. I do this on weekends before breakfast. When I do fasting and want to push the fast for longer, I drinking the apple cider vinegar (with a touch of honey is fine) instead of my regular meal. This will help to curb the feeling of hunger and I can go on fasting for longer. Another good tip is when at work during the week, I put 2 cloves in my mouth around 10:30 to suppress hunger and balance blood sugar. Let them in my mouth to soften, then slowly chew and eat when really soft. My first meal is at noon (usually apple) and then I have my lunch around 1pm and dinner around 7pm. Breakfast at work is herbal tea around 9:30 sweetened with a touch of honey.

My doctor suggested that I should ingest all alkaline stuff and also to completely avoid citrus fruits, coffee, red meat, and all food that acidifies. After I watched this video I tried to drink a glass of orange juice or diluted apple vinegar with my meal and it makes all of my symptoms, that you well described, completely go away. And the thing about the avoiding the sun... That's another huge topic. I really couldn't belive after all the medications I've taken, which just made me anemic and made the problem worse. @I'm happy it is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI), as the drug accumulates in the body, so diminishes your stomach's ability to produce digestive acid. It is also know as Omaprezol/Prilosec is similar to Nexium and Prevacid. All 3 are OTC. I was offered temporary relief from pain, after several days of a course. It started to become significantly less frequent and more of a passing fluctuation. BE AWARE to read dosage instructions, some are 14 day course/ 3 months before another course. I distinctly remember that with around 15 days till I could start my 2nd course it came back like it was training in the gym with a pro the whole time. I, personally would not recommend any of the above mentioned "Medications". Due to their lasting effects I have experienced in my life. I have seen medical professionals in my life make ultimately incorrect decisions. I don't have a lot of people I could trust with my own life. Educate and grow a community of others who seek truth and knowledge. We all seek comfort, try to truly offer yours to another before expecting any from another.

@@debbiec6216 I did Keto for like 6 months. At first, my gerd got really bad because you aren't in a proper ketosis state yet and yet you're eating tons of fats which are a trigger for gerd. BUT after like 2 weeks, gerd literally vanished. I wouldn't call it a CURE though because once I stopped the keto diet, my gerd came back. For it to be a CURE, you'd basically have to eat keto for the rest of your life.

I have had severe GERD for 20 years. I wish i could agree that simply taking HCL is the answer but this condition is caused by a multitude of factors that need to be addressed. Let's not forget that people who have GERD likely have other inflammatory issues of the gastrointestinal tract, including gastritis, esophagitis, SIBO, gallbladder or liver issues, etc. For me, taking things like bitters, apple cider vinegar, and hydrochloric acid actually makes things worse. I STILL have reflux so the pain in my esophagus and stomach are even more severe... I need to take several days to recover from just one dose. Having lived with this condition for so long I can honestly say that HOW I eat (whether rushed or under a stress response) and when I eat plays more of a role than WHAT I eat and what supplements I try to take in order to improve this and other gastrointestinal issues (for me SIBO). Obviously our food and beverage choice still play a role, but If we are are stressed out when and after we eat, our digestion shuts down and the LES is certainly more likely to open leading to reflux. It's great if some people can take HCL right off the bat and see symptom relief, but in my experience simply taking supplements is not necessarily the golden ticket to this condition.

I was in ICU due to severe gastritis and ulcer I didn't know about I was battling for more than year after first hospitalization. I searched for different types of specialist from neuro to cardio as I was having terrible migranes and chest pains, EEG, ECG and CT scan were normal. Took every medicine did all the tests that doctor and I both prescribed. I came to know about cervical spondylosis after I decided to go for MRI so I thought maybe I have figured it out. But one day after cholesterol fasting as soon as I completed my blood test the breathing problems appeared again like in first hospitalization. Before being hospitalized first time I was healthy and suddenly one day I got fever that came at night, my medications made things worse. Only after second hospitalization I got endoscopy then things start to become clear. Then again chest pain, wrist pain, leg pain with chest spasm and palpitations start to occur more, Now I know its because of esophagus spasm it feels like heart problem. After normal results of echo and TMT the picture became clear. Watching this video is bringing me more insight into what went wrong the issue is due to low acid and not high acid.

Best information I’ve seen amazing video. So for context I’m from London I’m 31 years old my symptoms started 2 years ago with chronic acid reflux and ingestion since then I’ve made my lifestyle changes like no Alcohol or liquor for you Americans no high fat foods and dairy products. Since then the reflux has gone but I’m left with chronic ingestion witch can last up to 10 - 12 hours it’s Radom sometimes I’ll eat the same foods one day it’s fine then not ok the next . I’ve been to the doctors first thing was PP1 medication witch luckily I learnt very quickly what it dose to you over long periods of time so I stopped within a month even tho it did help . Then I went for an Endoscopy , blood tests , stool sample , Ct scan , ultrasound all came back fine . So then the doctor tried to put me back on ppi witch i refused and asked if I could have a PH test done as I suspected I have a low PH the doctor told me that they wouldn’t test my PH because that’s only for people with no stomach then asked me if I have a degree in medicine because unfortunately this doctor didn’t know what I was talking about it’s a sad day when you know more then a doctor. So recently I’ve started to take L glutamine , prebiotic and digestive enzymes I’m hoping this will fix the problem but I wasn’t aware of betaine hydrochloride so now I’m thinking I’ll start that any other advice I’d appreciate it all the best to people suffering with this it’s no way to live make sure to get the right help and information and don’t trust these doctors nothing but glorified drug dealers .

Betaine HCL with pepsin is really helpful. But getting your diaphragm to work properly fixed it completely for me. Stretches both for mobility and strenghtening, and breathing exercises. And try not have bad posture, and be more active. Had extreme issues for a couple of years. These things reversed it. The sphincter is connected to the diaphragm. A weak, tense or damaged diaphragm, and the valve wont close properly.

@imhappy83 heartburn and indigestion. I take Thornes, from their website: Indigestion can be caused by many things - including inadequate amounts of hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the stomach. HCl secretion in the stomach does several positive things. It assists protein digestion by activating pepsinogen to pepsin, it renders the stomach sterile against ingested pathogens, it inhibits undesirable overgrowth in the small intestine, and it encourages the flow of bile and pancreatic enzymes.* Hydrochloric acid also facilitates the absorption of a number of nutrients, including folate, vitamin B12, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, iron, and some forms of calcium, magnesium, and zinc.* Numerous studies have shown that hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach begins to decline with advancing age. Overuse of antacids or acid blockers can also lead to low levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which can result in poor protein digestion.*

Something I figured is that having Potassium (Potassium Chloride from an electrolyte supplement for example) present in your stomach instantly stimulates acid release. As far as I know, the Proton Pumps which pump the HCl acid into the stomach are stimulated by Potassium ions. So drinking some electrolyte supplement that has a good amount of potassium should instantly help release some acid in my experience

I did this too and I feel better but it provides temporary relief from the acid in your esophagus that shouldn’t be there but worsens the problem long term. Lemon water is an acid that is actually considered alkalinizing because it brings your stomach acid to a stable range. Lemon water can fix acid reflux after drinking coffee. What??!! Both acids but coffee is the wrong acidity and lemon is the correct one. Drinking lemon after coffee will actually settle your stomach. Coffee is bad we shouldn’t drink it but lemon will fix your stomach, control the stomach sphincter and prevent the reflux so you don’t need baking soda water. Which ultimately worsens the condition

I had surgery last year, was almost on antacid for an year. When I was off antacid I developed gerd, doc prescribed me PPI for 20 days, temporary relief but it came with constipation, bloating and restlessness. I started going on long walks, included yoga especially breathing excercises, with clean diet, I am feeling much better without medicine now. Buttermilk, soaked raisins and soaked fennel seeds also helped I feel. My gerd came with insomnia, I try to be stress free, it is still work in progress. I am not on antacid or PPI currently, but feel much better, I still feel heartburn sometimes after eating food, but it is slowly coming down. I will not eat medicine for GERD anymore. Ayurveda has lot to offer on GERD, but you need patience to be on such restrictive diet for months.

Raw coconut oil and palm kernel oil helped me with my thyroid issue and ACV regularly helps keep me from needing a proton pump inhibitor or other medication for acid reflux. Most "informed" doctors either don't understand or won't be on the level. Actually I didn't understand what the coconut oil did for me but I knew it somehow helped. A nurse practitioner who had worked 15 years in a Cox ER knew immediately how it has helped. But raw vegetables and oils absolutely do affect hormones and it doesn't take 5 minutes to find a dozen medical journal articles by several hospitals and doctors to affirm that tidbit. I don't drink vinegar. I eat some kind of fresh vegetable salad with vinegar and oil regularly and that does it for me.

This video has blown my mind. I’m in 40s and started to experience periodic reflux. Generally I am referred to take PPIs by doc. I have tried last 2 weeks on a PPI with limited difference. But now they suggest to double the dose even though my symptoms are not severe. Minor reflux burn after eating. Maybe I should try halving the dosage and then removal for a few weeks instead. I know the issues with PPIs longer term. I want to avoid. But lack of balance information is a real issue with medical practice these days. It tends to be a black and white scenario with no degree for variables. Thanks for sharing.

In my experience the main reason why there is reflux , is the fact that the upper esophageal sphincter isn't closing or not closing completely. The muscle has become weak and that can have different reasons. If the sphincter would be closing correctly , there would be no reflux. I don't think that the stomach acid being too alkaline is a cause for the sphincter to become weak. A stomach acid that is too alkaline definitely would cause issues , no doubt. But before taking Betaine HCL I would have the acidity of the stomach tested.

I had GERD for years, started when I was around 35 and didn't go away till about 4 or 5 years ago, so I was about 53 or so. I had to take Tums 10-20 times a day or those Pepsid Completes or other pills every day. About 5 years ago I discovered KETO and the problem got way better but didn't go away completely, I still got heartburn a couple times a day. After being on Keto for a year I switched to Carnivore and the problem still persisted. However, on Carnivore I was able to figure out that it only occurred on days I ate eggs. I cut those out and have been GERD and heartburn free for the last 3 years or so. I took that, very expansive, Everlywell test and found that I have sensitivities to egg whites. So I can tell you the issue is what you're eating that's causing this issue.

I've noticed that drinking a small amount (like a few tablespoons) of raw, unpasteurized, unfiltered, organic, apple cider vinegar with the Mother in it, (after eating any meal that ends up giving you indigestion, etc.), GREATLY helps with these problems also, usually completely eliminating this problem altogether, because ACV is ALSO very similar to the acid in your stomach, along with betaine hydrochloride, so one or both of these things are the actual solution(s) to these problems, but definitely NOT antacids, etc., as antacids and the like just make the problem worse in the long run!
