I wish that more men's suits had brocade patterns on them now! What's a true shocker is that once upon a time men had useless pockets.

I love how when the wife does the clothes she makes it look all pretty and elegant but when her husband does it, it looks like he's showing off. "Suave! Handsome! Hello ladies!"

It really is so much fun to see these videos in eras where the phrase "Do you think this is too much?" just doesn't seem to be common vocabulary. And still the look as a whole is elegant. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, thank you. I'm writing a novel set I. 1662. I can't find much information on clothing of this era. This video is very useful, in fact I downloaded it for future reference. Thank you once again. I would like to see a video of a women's dressing. The wig came into fashion when CHARLES II wore one. He was going grey early. It wouldn't do to have a grey haired monarch on the throne!

Keeping in mind we're looking at clothing of the wealthy elite here, it certainly still feels like the range of textiles & accessories considered "appropriate" for male attire has shrunk drastically of recent decades! Even if you go back & look at what guys were wearing in the '60s-'70s, it was WAY more colourful & out there? 😆 I live in hope that as our social ideas about accepted gender stereotypes keep broadening, hopefully one day guys will once again have access to something more interesting...?
