She’s a Barrymore it’s in their blood :( They probably did see it coming…she’s a warrior.
@ryliel3130 Жыл бұрын
@@MsTinkerbelle87 it’s in nobody’s “blood”. She had an unstable home life, and both her parents introduced her to drugs and alchohol. Her father was a violent drunk, and her mom would take her out with her friends late at night, five times a week or more and let her drink and do other bad stuff like that. Because drew would feel anxious before interviews like this, her mom would get her drunk to help her “loosen up” and become more talkative. It was the influence of her parents… I really think drew wouldn’t have gone down such a dark path if she just had more responsible parental figures in her life. Poor thing :( she was SO young…

I know, I was thinking the same thing. She’s about a year older than me, and I always loved her and kind of looked up to her growing up. She was such a delightful, real, bright, charming little girl, and it’s so heartbreaking watching this interview, because you know what’s coming. She pulled out of it, though. Mad snaps for that. She still seems like a very warm and kind and down-to-earth person.

As heartwarming as this is, it also makes me think how hard and dangerous and stressful it can be for kids to be in the spotlight of entertainment business. Is also eerie how she keeps hinting at things that were wrong with her mom ("she would kill me", "she is always on the phone").
@temi4116 Жыл бұрын
That's kids for ya... often spill beans. Maybe that's why a lot of parents don't want their kids to talk. The parents keep things under wraps and whether their kids would tell something to others outside the immediate family that would be personal, wrong or whatever, my father didn't want us kids speaking out. I cannot count how many times when I was growing up at home that my father said " I'm going to tell you something but it should be kept in the house." I suppose he felt a need to share stuff anyway that often should not have even been said. 😱

the part about "my mom would kill me..." Is metaphorical, not literal! as far as "my mom is always on the phone" how many people would Drew have known at age 7 to need to speak to by phone?!! Not very many. This 20 or 30 years ago when people used wind up dial phones, and party lines, I am about 4 or 5 years older than Drew, and my parents didn't let me talk non stop on the phone at that age. Also I didn't know very many people to talk to. Now, 12/19/2022 I have about 350 contacts in my Moto G Pure Smartphone and email list and other Social media like KZfaq. We live in a different world than Drew's 7 y.o. world back then.

Carson was a class act. He did great interviews, and took this 7yr old seriously as an actress. He could have yukked it up for the crowd, but he didn't. Drew had a tough life after ET but Stephen Speilberg kept an eye on her and she grew up spending time with him and his family through the years. I saw an interview on her show with him - he surprised her for her birthday. The bond between Speilberg and Drew is father/daughter and to this day she still loves him.

Like her mom doesn't even give her a good night kiss. That's just for shadowing how she was searching for any type of affection in older men, who have totally different intentions with her.
