Drew and Tee visit Shuckburgh Hall, a privately owned country house in Northamptonshire, which Drew falls completely in love with when he sees inside!

English Heritage states that the contents cannot be sold, as they constitute part of the house. However they sit on their hands when the roof caves in on the interior and wrecks everything because the owner lacked funds to repair the property. When will they learn that antique furnishings are 'dead in the water' if you don't have anywhere to house them. Sell a few of them off now to get some much needed capital to invest in renovations and re-wiring et al. At least the building will be saved!

This house is the setting for _An English Haunting_ (2020), not a bad movie for its genre. (Atmospheric horror -- not gruesome.) You get to see more of the interior, although most is dim and dusky.

Seems like a lot of debt in Shuckburgh Hall. I could almost feel the relief as things were sold. Never seen Tee act so irritated with Drew before. Is it the beginning of the end for the dynamic duo?

The family crest is a red hand. That should tell you enough about his ancestors.

How can anyone be so wealthy?
@AlwaysInAtari3 жыл бұрын
They probably aren't. The guy has multiple properties on his estate that he is letting and selling off stuff to maintain the place. It's not an unheard of practice. In fact, marriage between wealthy families was a common practice to maintain that wealth or at least the semblance of it.

He’s not a knight. He’s a baronet which is a hereditary title. His father died at 63 in 2012.

Pretty sad, a thousand years in the family and he had to sell of antiques to keep the place afloat. Parents should have taught the next generation how to create wealth instead of living off it.

Obviously the house isn’t 1,000 years old. It was built in 1844, so my house is 5 years older 😆
