Hey Guys! So as many of you know, I went to Port-au-Prince (Haiti's capital city) a few months ago with my local friend & guide named Sean. It was the single scariest trip of my life. 90% of the city is controlled by ruthless gangs, and going into the slums with Sean was a wild experience. You can watch the full story of my Haiti trip here: • I Spent a Day in Haiti...
About a month ago, my friend Arab @YourFellowArab who makes great content about culture and street life, went to Haiti with Sean to shoot a similar story. Unfortunately, both men were kidnapped by gangsters for 17 long days - and it spread like wildfire across international news. Thankfully, the two men made it out alive after paying a hefty bribe.
I caught up with Sean just a few days after he escaped, and here is the full story.
Check out Arab's channel for more of the story in Haiti: / @yourfellowarab

We, haitians, we don't want to hear or see western governments and journalists talking about haiti or haitians. We know who you are. Western governments and journalists are criminals. The destruction of irak; syria; lybia; palestine; RDC and spring arab etc are made by western governments and journalists. What's going on in haiti is not about gangs, haiti has oil; gold; iridium etc. Western countries always use gangs; rebels; terrorist to get ressources found in foreign countries. Western governments and journalists and the gangs are the same, they are paid by the same bosses. Barbebues is a puppet, international terrorists are using him to get the ressources in haiti lands.

Sean deserves way more recognition for the fact that he decided to stick with Arab despite being offered to be released. 99% of people would of left him behind in that situation and I believe without Sean the situation would of been way worse, Arab appears to be a overly confident loud mouth sometimes and Sean seems to have guided him with the best chance at getting released. Sean was never the true target and if he took the decision to leave early then I believe the ransom could of been way higher and Arab could of very well been threatened way worse if he even got out alive. Sean is an absolute hero and as self centered as Arab comes across online I really hope he never forgets what Sean did for him during this time, this is an incredible story and Sean is an even more incredible human being

Arab's videos that he is posting about his adventures is making him back a lot of money. I have watched the parts that he has posted and he really has not talked about Sean much. It is mostly about him. Sean is stuck in Haiti and I hope that the KZfaqrs he has guided the past few years are sharing a bit of their profits off the videos that he made possible. I hope that Sean remains safe as he could be a hunted man talking about the gangs and such

Very true. I remember when Arab initially spoke about the incident, he mentioned he was with someone and that they were like cooking up a whole plan in the head and whatnot. Then he dropped his documentary and I never heard about Sean again. I forgot he was even in there with Arab until that video with the leader on the couch where it was both him and Arab beside the gang leader. I guess Arab's trying to gain as much from this as possible, which means putting himself at the forefront of his story. Glad this video was made to get Sean's perspective a bit more, and glad he's also okay.

We all know he doesn't speak Creole and somebody was recapping the conversations for him that they didn't record. He mentioned that Sean could've left but chose to stay with him until they were freed, forcibly separated or killed. It would have been better if Arab hadn't release videos of Sean saying gang slogan by force to keep them alive. He didn't translate them to English but the locals and international intelligence know what he was saying.

I think Arab and his brother’s version of events seemed a bit embellished. They both tried way too hard to come across as the main characters. It’s just weird they were more focused on “content” and clout in the midst of a life and death situation. I think their presentation and inauthenticity hurt their credibility in telling the story. I’m glad everybody made it home safely. I think Arab’s channel could be massive if he takes a step back and drops the cringy main character arc. If this situation didn’t give him a wake up call, I don’t know what will. Without Sean’s selflessness and quick thinking, this story could have ended much differently.

Drew, I really appreciate the update. I have never heard of Arab or this situation and would just like to say I remember in like 2009 or so when I was flying from Tampa to Miami to Quito, and the plane from Tampa to Miami's final destination was Haiti and it was filled with nice, loving people who wanted to go back to visit. I remember those days, and hope their families are well, the whole plane actually invited me to join them at the time. I said, once it touches down in Miami I am going elsewhere. I remember that time though and how there has been a change now, but deep down, most people are good people and I look forward to the day where if a Haitian invites me to join them, I can say "yes" without worry. With that being said, remember you are married now and whatever you do, you have to make sure that wherever you go, you are safe as well. Think about if this had happened to you and poor Deanna being worried out of her mind. Just some words of advice ❤️

You know what, Sean is one person in a million !!! Unfortunately, this world, the whole world, not only Haiti, is on a terrible path of corruption and money. Nowadays everyone is for sale regardless of location - EU, US, Africa, Haiti anywhere. And Arab doesn't do journalism like Sean, Arab goes for a sensation with the aim of making as much money as possible and then it has these consequences that people like Sean is in trouble. So happy that there are still people like Sean. Thx Drew for this video

Your trip to Hattie introduced us to Sean, he was always cool under pressure and got you guys through some seriously sketchy situations. I followed his kidnapping, extremely happy to see this interview. To know this experience has made him become cautious, speaks volumes. He truly is a very good person, possibly 90% of the population have the same wish for their country. Greed and lust for power of a very small number of people that influence and demand support with violence are further devastating a country that has been devastated by colonialism and mother nature for centuries. God bless Hattie and all the wonderful "normal" people that must suffer during this tragedy and hopefully transitional period of history. 🙏

I'm so glad for channels like this that are telling the truth about what's going on in Haiti. I've seen several videos that were posted in the past couple of days on other channels trying to make people believe it's safe to go to Haiti. These vloggers that are doing this are very irresponsible and can cause innocent people to get harmed or killed. Guys it's NOT safe to be in Haiti right now
