In this video I convert the bike camper I made last fall into a practical and beautiful teardrop camper for my snowmobile. I also build an efficient lamp oil heater from an old 50 caliber ammo can and some copper pipe to the heat the camper 25°c over the outside frigid temperature. I weld some brackets to mount skis on the original frame of the camper. Then I go camping for a full day and night to test the new snowmobile camping setup while doing some asmr fire-building, cooking and bushcraft.

Maybe it's a good idea to add a folding chair in the combination, then you can sit while eating. Also I think that you lose a lot of heat with the current set up, there is much potential.

I am an 80 year old grandmother that doesn’t know how to build anything. I was bored and looking through KZfaq and came across this. I have to admit it was a great watch. and fun. I have one small suggestion I don’t know if it’ll work or if it will help you. Nobody likes getting up for any reason in the middle of the night. So you know how much fuel you need for your lamps overnight. Why not build a metal pan almost like the fire box you made but much smaller that you could fit both of the wick holders on top, that will hold a full night’s fuel? My reasoning is that you room on the bottom and if you position wick holders spaced evenly, the added room around the base will accommodate the extra fuel needed.

So, I had a discussion with my son over the design. He wondered why it was so small (narrow) and posited that it's for solo camping, but wondered where your wife would sleep. I agreed that that was probably a good thesis and an excellent caveat. Then we got into physics. He suggested that a small space is easier to heat, which I had to agree with. Then I explained how larger internal volume leads to larger surface area and smaller comparative heat-loss. This was a little harder to explain so I had to make a practical demonstration (thanks, Yr 11 Biology teacher Mr Dick) and now he wants to know if I'm such a genius why we aren't rich. So, thank you Drew, for some true family quality time.

As with your other videos, it was really cool watching you modify your camper. You make it look quick and easy and I know it isn't, so you really have a talent for it. You're competent in so many areas -- carpentry, plumbing, steelworking, mechanics, electrical -- wondering if you are self-taught. Regardless, really great work and fascinating to watch! And your videos are to the point with no fluff -- quite a welcome contrast from other content on KZfaq. Nice easter egg!

You'll be making a two person-sized camper to pull from your golf cart. No, I take that back. You will build a camper that allows you to stow your E-bike to go on the hard top with. Amazing build. With the equipment you used to make your ski adapter, what would it cost to buy or make them? I love people who are so resourceful and innovative! I have welded with an arc welder, but no longer have one, nor those chop tools. Love the stove, and the songs on the video too!

A very nice conversion from the wheels to skis, hope to see the pontoon version soon! Something you might consider adding for the snow/water version would be a bolt on shelf covering the frame extensions. Strap a couple of fuel cans on each side to extend your range. I definitely agree with some other posters about adding a gusset where the tow bar makes the bend up to the hitch. Regarding your ammo can heater, take a look at a video series from "The Outsider" for his winter snowmobile camper. Oh yeah, that ammo box was for 5.56 (.223 caliber) NOT for 50 cal.

nicely done. the project adaptation, the edit, the shooting, and the music. nicely done drew. love your work. just three comments, for modifications. 1.) i might be wrong on this one, but I think the feet of your stove will still transmit heat to the wood that they’re sitting on. i’d suggest some kind of heat-shield for the feet so that you don’t burn down your new home. 2.) shocks. those skis need shock absorbers. otherwise you’re just asking for trouble. 3.) if I were you that second weld that you had to do because the connection to the ski mobile was poorly done to hold connect the ski mobile to camper, that could have been avoided if you had added top and bottom braces to the connector. I was thinking this even on the first build that the connector was too damned weak and flimsy. I was right. Sadly. Fortunately due to the durability of the camper and the frame, nothing too terrible happened. however, if I were you, I’d go back to that weld and add a top and bottom brace to that point. so that that piece never comes apart again. Other than that, nicely done project sir. nicely done.

adding shocks is a great suggestion.

Great vid! I left Colorado a few years ago and moved to Texas. I have lived in snow my entire life minus the last 3 years. I miss it a lot. I am not sure how this connected with me in that way, but it did. Maybe it is the freedom in your video and getting away and out in the elements. I never cared about the snow or cold. Now that I don't have it I miss it dearly. This was a great and relaxing mind trip for me. Really great project and adaptation of the skis for winter use. I pretty much have that exact wire-feed welder (Lincoln) and it has done 10+ spools through it over the years. MANY things have been made and fixed. I will never not use it, lol.

Can't help but wonder if you might for next year improve the suspension by allowing some up and down movement to smoth thigs out a bit. The heater you made works fine. Little trick, since you have a power bank, you can get "electric bed warmers" they are heating blankets you lay on.. they are often lower power then electric blanekts with more control of how hot they get and the ability to ignore shutoffs. you place them UNDER you and the blankets. so they would work great in an application like this. also... there's something called the SNOWCOACH MVP by equinox. They are 2.8m long, 1.2m wide and high. and have a 700lb load cap. they come with the ability to mount an electric heater, battery, interior lights, etc. and are convertable from ski running to be towed by a snowmobile, to ATV wheels to be pulled by a quad. Larger and heavier then yours they can be used for pulling passangers, but also can mount stretchers inside... so they would easly be convertable to an ATV + snowmobile camper too.

Now THAT is some creative work - Thanks for a great video - I hope you do a second one with changes like the fan to distribute the heat and anything else you think up to add to the project.

What a skill set Drew has. And, he can cook too! My husband couldn't build a bird house from a kit. Thanks for sharing!

Kinda funny honestly that I found this dudes channel and happened to see some of the things hes built. Gotta admit this is pretty cool, and reminds me somewhat of the camper me and my buddy built when we were like 10 or so out of an old flat trailer we had and mostly wood. It definitely wasnt light at all but we certainly used it alot. When we were younger it was mainly pulled by the tractors we built and would ride all over the place. Until we graduated up to quads and then we obviously would use them. I can recall times of taking trips down the old remnants of the railroad track that runs through our town hundreds of miles through indiana. Nowadays it's mostly grown over by trees and such but theres still a trail along some parts. We would take it up about 30 miles to the wabash river where there is now a fairly decent campsite setup and would just hang out do some fishing and boating if we had the boat with us. Good times.

Awesome! Looked at those ammo cam heaters same ideas but more vent tubes and even small 12 volt computer fans to push air into different areas of a small place

I’m delighted to see that beautiful old Yamaha SS440 still running so well. That’s one of the few Yamaha sleds I haven’t owned but a buddy of mine had one and it was a great sled! Oh - and the camper is awesome too!

I hate to be told NO! I love how you just come up with ideas and you pounce on them and the way you explain everything is so simple. I love the campers I was going to get into vanlife or truck camping but now I would love to camp with one of those campers behind my truck.❤

I came across your channel because I’m planning on building a trailer for my e-bike that I was hoping to convert to a sled during winter also. My name happens to be Drew too. I even had the exact same candle power small box fireplace idea as well. I’ve been searching the internet for a while and it’s looking like you’ve done the best design and highest quality work. It seems to be a growing trend and many people doing their own projects recently but I haven’t seen anything that comes close to this strength/weight/comfort. It may be hard to beat this but I’ve been brainstorming a plan I’ll be starting by next spring and should have it done by next fall. Only a matter of time before someone makes a company.

This is what my favorite build so far the hulk a thing anyway but I would definitely recommend building a small half the size of the camper towards the top luggage rack out of aluminum of course so when you're sleeping at night you can keep your cooler and stuff up high away from critters

That camper is awesome, great work!!! Some removable insulated covers for the windows would probably make a big difference.
