That final riff is just FILTHY. There is something special about Gojira. A lot of people refer to them as "prog." And while I hesitate to use that term, the whole is definitely greater than the sum of it's parts. I can pick up my guitar and pick out pretty much any of their riffs fairly quickly, but there is something about the way they put their songs together that makes them so musically interesting. And I reiterate, you have never seen a more devastating live band in your entire life.
@NickyHendriks4 жыл бұрын

That chorus though, maks me cry. The way Gojira is able to create a melody with growls and very heavy music is beautiful. A lot of bands will tone done the intensity of the music in the melodic parts and then go back to heavy. But Gojira has a way to create a beautiful, melodic, touching, music without toning it down, not a notch. Yes, it's an acquired taste for sure but absolutely love them.

Dude, you are hooked. I had the same reaction the first time I listened to the tracks you've done this week. Here's the thing ... that's just the first listen. Wait till you put them on repeat and start to dig in ... find all the subtleties you missed the first couple of times. I was never into the death metal scene because of the screaming too, but for me, these vocals really are another instrument and add to the vibe rather than detract from it. And if you ever have the chance to see them live, you owe it to yourself. They give off such positive energy - you can tell they love performing for their fans, and they sure as hell bring it!
@KrakenIsMahB4 жыл бұрын
thats philosophy about vocals i made too, restricting vocals to clean-only is like saying instruments should be played only one way, not using entire scale they provide. And god damn, it hits hard when played right, and thats good

The guitar at the end is a reversed track of another song off the album, they do this in a few on their albums. Gojira is simply art, from Mario Duplantier being the greatest drummer of our generation to Joe Duplantier having the harsh but melodic vocals it’s amazing. Jean-Michel Labadie absolutely throws his heart into the bass and Christian Andreu with his crazy rhythms! The Gift of guilt is a less heavy track for you, or the shooting star. Their latest album (Magma) is tailored for newer listeners

Haha spot on! Brings me back to my first listen-through.. Blown away! You've had some unique sounding bands on your channel; Opeth, Zeppelin and now Gojira. Plenty of metal bands and genres can be 'more of the same' (And still be awesome ofc.) But there are also a few gems who invent new or their own things, who become true classics, like the ones on your channel. I'm thinking about some psychedelic cuts to your list: "Cult of Luna", Isis (the band: rip.) "Russian Circles" (instrumental + great song writing!). Or if you like more death(-ish) metal; Akercocke (Uk, big vocal range as well as great songwriting.), Gorefest (old dutch band, you'll like the last 2 records, great song writing) or Death (Roughly the 'slayer' type for deathmetal) Or maybe not even metal: Primus, Mogwai.. So much great music, so much to talk about haha. Thank you for reminding me.
