This is where you could do with a crow bar with a knob on one end. To ram the ballast (gravel) under any new sleeper replacement so that it brings sleeper up tight under the rail and not depress into soft soil when you drive over it. Putting ballast between the sleepers does not help much as track is not built on a bed of compressed ballast for drainage. In fact it may cause puddles to form around the sleepers under the ballast you put there. Putting the ballast between the sleepers should only apply when you have a bed of ballast under the sleeper as with a modern track. Keep up the good work. I love what you are doing and appreciate how much physical hard work it is. And also appreciate that you are doing it all in your spare time. I hope that you get the support that you deserve.

Hi Peter, have you got the picture of a crow bar with a knob to see it ??. I know that a bed of compressed ballast is the best thing :).After new sleeper replacement we have three options, putting the soil between the sleepers, leave it uncovered, cover it with crushed stone. I thing that the last one is better...it shields the sleepers from the sun, and makes it harder for vegetation to grow. Pozdrawiam :)

Thanks for explaining the situation with your railway. In the UK many standard gauge railways where scrapped and now some would need to be rebuilt for alternatives to road traffic. The narrow gauge railways in Wales have mostly been rebuilt for Tourist operation and some of the views in your film are reminiscent of the early days of rehabilitating the Welshppol and Langfair railway and The Ffestiniog Railway. Hello from the US! Thank you for sharing this video with us! Many countries have abandoned narrow gauge railroads to go to standard gauge or broad gauge. I guess it is better for the bottom line of the business. I personally believe though, that narrow gauge trains and railroads bring a more personal touch to the communities they operate in. I think that countries who still have their smaller gauge trains and railroads, many that have actually built the country they are in, should reconsider and re-establish the narrow gauge trains and tracks, to include manufacturing locomotives and wagon stock of various kinds. It would make jobs for the local people during reconstruction and even in operations. It seems the narrow gauge railroads go to places the larger ones don't go, which is good! (My opinion of course!) Once again, thank you for sharing, your English is just fine, you spoke enough and we understood, and be sure to tell all your friends we saw in the video that there are some of us on this side of the world who appreciate the hard work they do to keep a wonderful monument of a railroad going again. I was a railroad worker for a season rebuilding track and I understand the work involved! Keep us updated. See you down the track . . . . . . :)

Narrow gauge track is a waste of money. Standard gauge takes the same space. Renovating and maintaining this track is a mistake. This narrow gauge should be replaced by standard gauge, financed from taxes imposed on the catholic monopoly churches in Poland.

Stupid post!! Narrow guage is used because it uses LESS ROOM and can have tighter curves and lighter built bridges. Standard guage needs 4'8" plus 6' EACH SIDE and 16' high plus space for the slope of embankments etc AND at least 20' EACH side for cuttings. Narrow guage only needs 2' plus 4' each side and 4' each side for clearance and 10' high for tunnels with minimum either side of this. The hedges show the limits of the track bed either side of the rails with minimum impact on farms where produce (mostly sugar beet i think) could be collected staight from the fields into wagons. Narrow guage in the US was used for similar reasons in the mineral lines ( silver etc) for cost, a narrow guage line could be laid faster and round tighter bends since the rails and sleepers ( ties) could be handled by fewer men in smaller groups along the rail bed. A 30' standard guage rail lenth needs 20 people just to lift it ( i have done this myself), a narrow guage 30' length needs just 4!!! Sleepers are half the length and usually half as thick thus 1/4 the cost without expensive cast iron chairs needed on most lines. The result is a fast way to get your stuff to market and collect your money. The houses of most of EUROPE have Welsh slate roofs because of this! Other countries where they mostly have tile roofs used to have clay pits and brickwork kilns with narrow guage railways to move the clay and goods with lines that were MOVED frequently to get new materials.

Many preserved railways (including narrow guage over here, some have 1' 11 " track) have more engines than track, perhaps you could borrow / lease one and run a small train between two towns to raise funds to help with costs of the work etc. Was involved in this in the 70's and 80's giving brake van rides on just 1/4 mile of track!! They made money! Nowadays i am older, retired and more into engine repairs and rebuilds in the engineering section.

I see you have a lot of problems with roadway improvements covering over the rails and even removing them completely at times. Hope you can get trains running on these rails again soon. Your English is very good. I wish I knew the Polish language to know what everyone was saying while out working on the rail lines.

Nowy materiał (new part) od 47:50 to English Language: - we sprayed the track in Lubraniec, in June we plan to organize a trolley party there. New material from 47:50. ;)

You need something like a snowblower with chains instead of a auger. An oil drum cut in half length ways with an axle across and discs with sections of chains attached driven by a chainsaw motor sprocket should do it, towed BEHIND the train, with a wagon with two leaf blowers following WELL behind to clear the rubbish. On the difficulty of ownership simply form a private limited liability company and allow county authorities to BUY shares in it( say 1% each max). They will soon stop taking notice of what your doing if it means paying for it!!! Then buy the railway from the state for a small sum. They will be glad to be rid of being responsible for it. Happened this way in UK, with our preserved lines but usually all the track was ripped up years before, at least all this is still there for you!

Hello Jaroslaw. It is generally referred to as a fencing crowbar as it is used to help dig the post hole using the sharp chisel end and then using the knob end for ramming the earth tight down against the post after it is inserted in the hole. I tried attaching a picture. I will see if I can find your email and send a picture. I am sure that you find them available in Europe. They are available I notice in UK. Very common in Australia as a work tool for farmers and builders and especially for fencing contractors in rural areas where they erect very long wire strand and barbwire fences to contain sheep and cattle and do not set posts in concrete.

Problemem nie jest to że kolejka jest nieopłacalna czy coś - w ciągu kolejki znajdują się 3 licea ogólnokształcące które mogły by powodować większośc ruchu osobowego na linii Problemem jest środowisko komuchów w zarządach którzy najprawdopodobniej brali w łapę jeszcze jak ta kolejka jeździła. Ponieważ stanowi ona konkurencje dla wszelkiego rodzaju busów i innych PKSiarzy (prywatna komunikacja samochodowa). Krośniewicka kolej dojazdowa powinna zostać całkowicie oddzielona od samorządów i powinna zostać powołana spółka akcyjna o tej samej nazwie. Cały teren wraz z taborem powinien zostać przekazany pod własność spółki. Użeranie z komuchami tak zawsze będzie wyglądać, póki nie wyzdychają to nic się nie zmieni. Sam usiłowałem uratować parę części ze złomowanych lokomotyw ET22 lecz przez komunistyczną logikę zarządu nie udało się nic uratować. Udało się odzyskać jeden radiotelefon. Gdyby on tam został to pewnie popadłby w niebyt. Nie słyszałem aby ganiali za zwiedzanie stacji...prócz zamkniętych pomieszczeń oczywiście. Na stacji w Ozorkowie w każda niedziele od 12 d0 18 jest dostępna drezyna ( na pewno kiwajka) , na szlak wyjezdzamy zwykle któregoś dnia weekendu, niestety decyzja kiedy zapada w ostatniej chwili po uzyskaniu zgody naszych żon :)

hi . Carey, i think that weekend May 11-12 would be perfect. Now here is no PKP timetable for this date yet, but any way we will pick You up by draisine from Krzewie or Ozorkow where you can get by train. Usually for our guests we suggest a motel MONA which is right next to the trail . www.google.com/maps/@52.0357763,19.2173625,121m/data=!3m1!1e3. Price for 2 persons room is 100 PLN ( 25 Euro), it will be good to make reservation. Standard is so, so :) Motel is on this movie at 39:00 :)

So of the two possible dates, which do YOU choose. I now need to look at flights to Poznan. If we come for two days, then we stay ONE night in Motel ? Then we go back and get train to Poznan after ? first it was few sugar factories tracks. It was connected at the beginning of the First World War by German for military purposes. Their main line was from Mątwy by Dobre, Lubraniec, Boniewo, Krośniewice , Ozorków to Stryków. After the Second World War it was used partly by suger mills and as regular public railway owned by state.
