I am an English as a New Language teacher for the beginning class. I have no fear of speaking to my students only when my focus is completely on them and their needs. I've learned to stop confessing to them my errors and inadequacies. I appreciate hearing your testimonial about you growth with English. That's what I listen for. Thank you. Wow! You read to your mother! I was thinking of having my students read such stories. I did use my favorite children's book. I used it for pronunciation and vocabulary. I will bring it back this quarter. Thank you.

Two thing's are prime importance in public speaking, firstly ,you have a messege to deliver and secondly that you have a faith on the audience that your self-esteem will ultimately transform them. In the present speeches we have come accross most of it.

Hi Dr Grace, love your video here. I've always had issues doing any presentation because I'm also Chinese American but wasn't born in the US so I have a natural fear of public speaking. I'm a grown man middle age now and came here when I was 10 but I never did learn the English properly so I still make grammatical mistakes when I speak now and then, that's probably why I have a fear of speaking unless it's scripted and I can read then it's a bit easier but still get nervous. I do think that's my weakness and need to improve because of my career in sales. One thing I have learned is that is to speak slowly and also to take a breath in between sentences but of course this may make the audience fall asleep but at least I don't make too many blunders. Thanks again.

You have just changed my way of thinking this morning. I never the act of types of winning speech, statement or pitch including the dreaded "tell me about yourself" at an interview was about having the audience at heart in tamden with some "emotional word" to create a story that will be meaningful to the winning process. The first 3 minutes 16 seconds is the best moment of my life. I have an interview in an hour 30 minutes and I am going to incorporate that emotional feeling the audience have only to elevate the moment with my solution. Thank you very much. I have seen this pattern on KZfaq but I wasn't able to capture the one word that made the difference which is the emotional word that expresses the feeling one may feel and requires someone to help them stay on the right path. This is were I come in with the required solution to save the day or start them from where they stopped. DR, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I won't forget the one time that my voice was shaking as I speak on a microphone during a radio, asking about a concern. When I was a kid, I was a really shy one. I just don't speak that much. Then, I challenged myself when I was in high school to speak in front of class. In college, because of my modulated voice, my classmates loved to hear me speak. However, at work, I have this struggle of not being sure of what to say. I'm kinda shaky at times. How ironic despite the confidence I have when I do my Pre-Baptismal Seminar in our parish being a volunteer Catechist. I speak there with knowledge and confidence. Makes me feel that it's my stage.

In my forty years of work experience, the upper management executives were very bad public speakers, despite their large salaries. They punctuated their sentences with the "you knows", "errs", and "ums". One department head said "you know" one hundred plus times in forty minutes, from week to week, in a one-hour department meeting with sixty plus attendees.

I'm learning to speak English, on my country only on my own. I know it's a little difficult for me, because I don't have any English speaker in full-time, like friend, coworker, girlfriend. I could understand this video about 80%. You have a great confidence and pronunciation to speak English. I hope to watch more videos like this one, longer and with good audio. Thank you Dr. Lee for your great tips. I have been struggling with "stage fright" for quite a while now. My work requires me to give presentations more or less frequently and its very important for me to refine my public speaking skills. I get freaked out a little even when doing zoom presentations with just pp slides in front of me. I love especially your points on "knowing your stuff" and practice. These usually makes or break my presentations. Thanks again for the tips and looking forward to more vids from you..

I was recently hired at a BPO company which is my 3rd job now. I always wanted to be promoted but I didn't have the right mindset. Now, I am very eager to grow and get the promotion so I am really trying to absorb everything right from my first day at work and one of the things that I am focusing is my communication or public speaking skills. Your 10 secrets absolutely changed my perspective and improved my confidence. Thank you so much. Looking forward for more of your videos. ♥️

This is so good that I want to rewatch it again. And Bethesda is so grand although I remembered it as being decrepit and dangerous in the 70's when I was a little kid. Great complement to the usual Vancouver waterfront. My two favoruite running venues, Central and Stanley Parks. Cantonese is also my first language although I was born in Manhattan, but English is my de facto language. Great video and thanks.
