I was going to go to Canada, but have a matters to attend to in my personal life so I won’t go this time. I’ll have to make a plan for the first defence 💪 Where are you from?

@hackcheckpodcast32 I'm from the States (Midwest); I'm actually across from a bridge that leads into Canada. My friends, mostly girls, loooooove Dricus, but I was a fan of Cameron before ever hearing of Dricus. I watched Cameron on the contender series and then watched a few EFC fights and saw Mark Hulmes (also really good). At some point, while watching a UFC ppv, DC mentioned the connection between the two. Cameron, Dricus, and Mark are really good, but Cameron is the better fighter in the bunch - unfortunately, he is in the toughest division. I'm looking forward to Dricus winning because I'm a fan, and I want to see if this will lead to UFC eventually hosting an event there.

Dricus is just a beast of a man. He’s a specimen. His physicality & aggression has been too much for every single opponent he’s faced in the UFC. He’s just too much, I can definitely see Dricus becoming Champ! Outside of Strickland (who I think is a very competitive opponent), who beats him? Not Izzy, Not Whittaker, definitely NOT Kamzat either… again I think he beats everyone right now.

I really hope DDP wins. Sets up a rematch with Sean if Izzy is still taking time off, and if khazmat is healed up then its a mega fight next. I want Sean to win only because he is hilarious. I think ddp is the better fighter. Sean is too small for 185. Ddp is huge. I think if they fought at 170 its a tossup but ddp at 185 will take him down and ground and pound him to oblivion

Dricus can’t make 170 anymore, I can assure you. He is massive for 185! I think Dricus winning opens up doors to more exciting fights, both stylistically and storyline wise, but it’s a great fight either way! Dricus puts him away within 3 for me 🇿🇦

If Sean loses the belt he won't get a rematch, he has no title defense. DDP will fight Khamzat Chimaev, Izzy might comeback to fight Sean or Cannonier but I think the ufc will want Dricus to fight Izzy at UFC300.

Definitely Dricus's fight to win or lose. Just take care that Sean isn't working on opening with a flying knee. He loves that belt. He may be willing to do anything to keep it. (I like it that Dricus always touches gloves with caution. Good for him, good mindset. These guys are not your friends.) Anyone else think that latest photo of Sean with his team is the weirdest photo in recent memory? Photoshopped? He's so hunched over to compact his stomach, he's at risk of ending up in a belfry in Notre Dame. Another example where he's completely psyched out. He knows Dricus is bigger and stronger and being the spar king isn't going to cut it. If Sean starts yelling in the fight, can Dricus time a nice jab, right in the mouth, mid sentence?

@@hackcheckpodcast32 I think many fighters who fought Strickland thought they could outstrike him on the feet because of that funny Philly shell style boxing stance of Strickland and ended up getting their asses whooped big time. And you gotta have KO power if you wanna stand and trade with Strickland, Dricus does have bombs in his hands and he can wrestle, those are the biggest threats for Strickland

Dricus said it himself! 3rd degree BJJ black belt under the legendary Roberto Atalla and a Judo black belt, but his mind for the game is crazy! He can talk BJJ strategy for hours and has a very unique outlook while staying fundamental.

Yes they are. I’d like to see Khamzat against someone his own size though. He has also fought 2 ranked opponents previously (both WW) and struggled. A full sized MW should handle him. Nickal is great, but not in the conversation yet until he fights higher ranked opponents tbh.

@@Teller580 Nickal is a fantastic wrestler and has been impressive so far, but he hasn’t really fought anyone yet. It’s early days. Also, like Neil says in the interview, you can no longer rely on 1 martial art to carry you, you need it all. Even Josh Koscheck was a better wrestler based on pedigree than GSP, and there were better strikers than GSP, but GSP was at least 80% all round and that put him miles ahead of his opponents who might be 95% at 1 thing.

Each have their own place in sport and minimising what the Springboks achieved is off the mark, Dricus is also his own man and should be celebrated in his own space in South African Sport. How about "it would be a great achievement for South Africa should Dricus win the title"

Saying one is as big an achievement or bigger than the other (an opinion btw), while still acknowledging both for being as great as they are is possible. It just serves to highlight how huge this is. Questions from an American: I’ve heard South Africa is having energy issues so does this make life harder for a portion of the South African population? Surely this can hamper training and life for natives? Also, men peck kissing on the mouth. Is this a South African thing? No judgement just curious as my fiancé and I were curious as American are not this affectionate with one another. Thanks!

South Africa has had electricity blackouts since about 2007 or 2008. They used to be unplanned and very rare, but they are full blown planned and on a schedule now. Most people plan around it, or have generators in place to combat it, but there are still some people affected by it. It does affect everyone still and there is no end in sight tbh. As far as kissing, some cultures here do it, but even as an Afrikaans person, I don’t do it myself and I was not aware that it was a custom amongst some Afrikaans people.

Not for dricus he never struggled. Look at his family they are all about 600 pounds- they had no trouble putting food on the table and retired young. That’s why he acts like a spoiled little brat- he is. Also no men don’t kiss in SA, ask anyone else this is weird

I think the last person to hit as hard as Dricus will hit Sean was Poatan, and he KO’d him stiff. My opinion is Dricus takes him down and does what he wants with him, but he is capable of breaking through the guard. It will all depend on what adjustments need to be made in the fight.
