Just an FYI: If U flip the channel locks over then they'd grip the chuck (a lot better) & not slip on whatever Ur trying to hold in place. Somewhat like a pipe wrench locks on only 1 way. try it & see if it makes a difference.

Took me a long time trying to get the bit out of the chuck on my dewalt drill using a variety of methods. Sitting at my desk after reading your post i tapped the three pins holding the bit and voila!

Thanks for posting such sound and simple advice! I went into Lowes (where I was told to purchase this item and the stupid things wasn't even for my drill. About 20 minutes ago I went into the store and spoke with a rep I didnt care for, as he's petty, has zero soultions and would rather make you prove something to him vs him just be a productive asset by way of his job and responsibility. The aquarian idiot was so slow, he asked me how did the bit get in the drill! I can't. He's been a thorn in the past and I don't know why I even felt like he would have had a solution! But I am so ecstatic that I came across your video, as the problem was solved asap!!! I'm so old school that I reverted to trying to figure it out on my own or reach out to males and someone suggested I go on youtube, which I did and found your video. Thanks again!!!!!

the gripping the drill bit with a vice grips and hammering it out worked for me. Then I got the chuck loose, again using a vice grips because thats all I had. No channel locks, no vise. But saved buying a new drill!

@@JimVincitore I have a new problem now...the chuck seems to seize up each time I drill...seems that something's wrong or dust got in and clogged it so it now can't twist as freely...got any ideas what's wrong?

@@tricasterstrat I THINK MINE ACTED FUNNY FOR A WHILE TOO, THEN IT WORKED ITSELF OUT. OIL IT UP. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT, BUT IF IT WAS MINE, I'D TAP IT WITH A HAMMER A FEW TIMES, MIGHT LOOSEN THINGS UP INSIDE THERE. I SAW GENERIC CHUCKS ON AMAZON LAST NIGHT FOR $10.00.

Thanks.. watching your video made us try just tapping the three bits that hold the bit in place.. one at a time.. it loosened it and then was able to unscrew normally. Had previously tried pipe wrenches and vices and something inside was slipping..

Ben Davis I just did the same, tapped around the big portion in a circle about five times and it moved. I thought I did it before but I don’t think I did the full circle. Just saved myself 100 because it was only used a few times before it got put away in the garage where it sat a year.

That bit only fit when the jaws were all the way recessed. When the bit is the same size as the chuck sleeve, this can happen as the little worm gear that moves the jaws in and out gets binded.
