Played a game where I was a Driller with the stock flamethrower and we had a second Driller join mid mission with the sludgepump with combustive goo. That was fun.

From what ive experimented with so far, the extra fragments in T2 make the charged shots kinda nuts. When you light the sludge on fire, the explosion generates enough heat to detonate all the other sludge fragments resulting in a massive cluster explosion. Because of this, I like to reduce the ammo cost in T4 so I can use more charged shots.

Reducing ammo cost by 1 is barely worth it when compared to reducing charge speed by 60%. The cost of a charged shot is 7 which is high but totally worth it if you're faced with enough bugs. You need to be able to fire multiple charged shots in quick succession, if you want to get the bugs while they're in still position. If you wast time charging, then you're likely going to miss your opportunity, but more to the point it'll increase burst coverage time. In Escort Duty, I'll often want to fire 2 to 4 quick shots left and then right, which results in full area coverage of both sides and the ceiling. When kiting I'll often want to fire two or three quick shots back to back to line the bugs into them. Charge time is what determines how quickly you can get the goo to cover the area, so charge speed basically increases burst damage in a way. You'll only get 2 shots per clip instead of 3, but usually I take larger clips, so i can shoot out 5 shots per clip, which is an absolutely ridiculous amount of goo, which is why I rather take charge speed.

In season 6 they’re most likely giving the secondaries new overclocks, and one of them for driller is almost guaranteed to be something for either the wave cooker or the subata to combo with this. It’s that or an adjustment to their respective mods

heavy hitter is enough to lit the goos in 2 shots so the t1 damage is unnecessary unless you want it for the extra damage

I would absolutely take more fragments over damage though. It makes the puddle deal more damage when you explode it.

Also 1-2 charged shots (and 2 normal shots at the puddle from EPC) are enough to kill a Praetorian which is super satisfying haha
