I’m a x well driller from Georgia and that’s the first time seeing one drilled that way. We use PVC pipes mostly and drilled 600ft or till we hit enough water. That’s a good video thanks

Get out there with a willow switch Andy. It's what grandpa used to do, I'll be damned if he wasn't always right, or pulling my leg, I'm not sure which. Depth is always sketchy, in my area, there's wells from about 40' to 270'. That fellow looks like he knows what he's doing and has a awful nice rig to do it with. Thanks again Andy. Best regards from Indiana.

Frey did a well for our greenhouse business a few years ago. From start to finish 3 hours In and Out, 93 feet down and all the water we want and they did a great job. That rig does a really good job 👍

We drilled a new well on the farm where I grew up. It was about 525’. Well driller had prepared us for that, had drilled one about 1 mile north of us at 530’. Replaced a 165’ well. Karst limestone topography so nitrates are a problem in shallower wells. Well and pump cost more than my father paid for the farm 65 years earlier. Also needed a filter system so you could drink the water because of taste issues.

This was really cool thanks for videoing it. I've always found well drilling interesting. Lots of respect for them guys, they're the real deal. I was thinking of you guys the other day it's been really dry here as well up until recently we hadn't got any rain at all. I've been changing water filters weekly because they're plugging with sand and that's usually the first sign that things are getting low. Awesome video Andy

Sand and gravel deposited in layers up to several hundred feet thick formed "glacial till", which is what he's digging thru after he get below the topsoil level Andy farms. A glacier, which melted away only 15,000 years ago, left huge amounts of sand, and gravel over much of that part of New York State. The glacier was up to a mile and a half thick, picking up the loose material as it moved down from Canada and depositing it as it melted away. Many of the knolls in Andy's area are huge deposits of "till" which hold millions of gallons of fresh water filtered from rain on the surface. For more info google this, amazing how much power the glaciers had.

Beats the heck out of the old pounding well drilling rigs. Took days and days to do what these rotary rigs do in one day. I had a well drilled to 320' 55 years ago, and then needed another 80' added 15 years ago. Went down in the same hole, which took a lot of jockeying around to get the rig perfectly lined up.

That’s the same rock bit we used offshore to drill oil. Deepest i can remember going was 37k feet down. We we in 10k feet of water. We were so far out no site of land. And at night the gulf was so dark kind of Erie. But come 5:30am you start looking around to the east and you could see a little light glow from the sun.

You never know if you're going to get water or not. Ecology is an important part of finding water and that cost a lot of money too. You have a man with lots of experience doing you're drilling for you his experiences saving you lots of money, and again without water you don't have anything. It just shows you how precious water is. Thanks mr. Well driller for having Andy videotape you, you're very good At your job. This was a very interesting day.

Andy, loved it. Where I come from, we have oil so anytime there was a crew my dad loved being around it and we would check it out. If any of you get a chance to see it, take it. Although nowadays, I do not imagine civilians welcome. haha. Funny this guy works alone, probably easier for him to stand in the rain and work alone than to try to keep help. When the Hourigan crew showed up, you can see why they are successful. All willing to get dirty, wrestle pipe, move the trucks around, whatever. And, Davey was really listening, learning. Kudos to the next generation. And Mr. Frey is trying to get water and not looking to scalp anybody. When you are looking for water, sometime its a bit of a gamble. He really wants to complete the job and give you a great well. It may be a bit expensive but will pay off in the years to come.

Interesting to see someone with years of drilling experience drill. Plus they gave explanations on what there looking for and was straight shooter. Not wanting you to waste money for exploration that wouldn’t give you positive results. Hopefully you’ll have time to record the next place they look to drill, I’d be interested to see how much winter comes shooting up.

I watched a well driller drive my well. After about an hour of watching him looking around I asked him what he was looking for. He explained "I can't see underground all I can do is remember all the wells I drilled here and the depth & quality of water". He and his family drilled 90% of the wells around the area. He was trying to avoid super water (heavy iron taste). My well was around 300ft.

A few years back l worked for bore hole contractor. On one farm we went over a 100ft down before we hit water. And when we hit it it, boy did we know. A massive blast of water, drill grit and grime shot out of the short discharge pipe. It left a mucky stresk across the field. Was quite funny but only because we were out of its way.
