At a restaurant, is there a nice way to ask if the ice in the drinks is from a filtered source, without offending anybody??

when we lived in Puerto Vallarta, we installed a simple carbon filter inline for cold water under the kitchen sink. It is easy and costs about all together $50 USD. A new filter every 6 months is about $15. Less expensive and healthier than water delivered in plastic large bottles which is nothing else but filtered city water. This way we even washed and rinsed all the ingredients and dishes in filtered water. In 18 years full time in Mexico we never got sick. But the secret is also in... eating hot peppers and hot salsas with every meal.
