I recently purchased a 2015 Prius. When coasting down a mountain road I put the car into B mode. After the battery shows a full charge the sound of engine increases and sounds like I am putting strain on the B mode system. Is this normal when the battery shows a full charge while coasting down a long hill?

tts20smoke20 The way I understand it, B mode is designed to maintain constant vehicle speed going down long grades without using the brakes. It purposely spins the motor in order use the engine braking to keep you from going too fast. One thing I would like to point out is that B mode does NOT charge the battery more than normal D mode while going down hills or braking, in fact it regenerates energy even less than regular D mode. Not to be rude but the sole purpose of B mode is to maintain safe downhill driving speeds and not to recharge the hybrid battery faster.
